I recommend this drama:

Bow The Queen's Classroom (Jyoou no Kyoushitsu)

I have watched probably over 30 or 40 japanese dramas, and of all of them, I'd have to say this is the best I've ever seen... I've seen GTO... I've seen Gokusen---Those teachers don't compare to the one in this drama. Watch it, it's great. You'll learn alot and hopefully be a better person ^^

Thanks for the recommendation.
On another note, while I like high school dramas, I didn't really like Gokusen that much (not big on the whole teacher thing), and Gokusen 2 I couldn't even get past 4 episodes. However, I will still check it out and see how it goes.

I'm still open to more suggestions and recommendations.

Along the storyline of Maou? Hmm, from the top of my head, Byakuyakou and Sorakara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi.

Just finished watching Medaka

There are a lot I could say as to why I like it so much but I will keep it short. If you like feel-good drama that leaves smiling at the end of each episode, then don't miss out on this. ^^ This is definitely better than GTO and Gokusen in my books.

It's baffling to me how such a crowd-pleasing series can have such low ratings. Even though all my drama votes are all taken up, I think I am going to vote for this drama.

2. Last Friends (this one is questionable, she did fantastic)

Aiming for a (deserved) award-winner next, Juri!!

Not that baffling: No JE boys or the like to draw in that giddy, boy-crazy age group.

Hi guys, I need your help.....

I wanna get some nodame-like doramas or my girlfriend. I know this is a pretty common request, but maybe you can help me.
I've already gotten Hotaru no Hikari and I wanna get another series which I've seen but cannot remember the name.

It's about a young office girl who lives with her father (her mom died). The father really is overprotective, they have rules at home about when to come home and so on. And she falls in love with a colleague of her....of course her father doesn't allow it...and so on....oh yeah....her father works in some kinda post office I think.

I'm sure you know which series I'm talking about. Can you tell me the name again and maybe recommend me some more which go in that direction? Romance/comedy....

thanks a lot....

Taiyo no Kisetsu by Takizawa Hideaki. Its more towards drama than suspense but about the same focus on revenge like Maou.

Hi,
As somebody who is the wrong side of 30, I'm looking for a dorama suitable for the more, ahem, mature person. Does anyone have a recommendation for a well plotted, acted and written dorama with depth which also assumes the viewer has some intelligence.

Shows I've enjoyed are:

A Million Stars Falling From The Sky
Ashita no Kita Yoshio
Kekkon Dekinai Otoko
Muri na Renai
Sleeping Forest
Odoru Daisousasen
Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi
Koukou Kyoushi
Bara no nai Hanaya
Warui Yatsura
Gonzo Densetsu no Keiji

My particular favourites where Ashita no Kita Yoshio and A Million Stars Falling From The Sky.

On my list to try are:

LIFE
Byakuyako
Utahime

Shows I tried, but didn't enjoy:

1 Litre of Tears
Last Friends
Long Love Letter
Galileo

Any other suggestions?

Many Thanks.

^ Hmm, the fact that Nodame Cantabile isn't on your list means it didn't meet your requirements, ne? Sweat

Welcome Cerebus! Mr Green

You seem to like mystery: Unfair with the wonderful Shinohara Ryoko (also good in Anego and Haken no Hinkaku) or the whacky Jikou Keisatsu could work for you.

Most members here would join me and recommend the wonderful Yasashii Jikan! You have to check this one out.

On the lighter side: Orange Days and Golden Bowl

You might also enjoy dramas by scriptwriter Kudo Kankuro: Tiger & Dragon, Kisarazu CatLs Eyes, Ikebukuro West Gate Park. In my humble opinion the best!
