Beginner episode 1
I like it, I think, but not easy to follow. I am confused why they spent quite a bit of time on the feelings on the people involved in the cases... And the verdict I'm not sure about either. I don't have much legal knowledge though.
Watched it a second time. I think I follow now. It was enjoyable the second time too. ^^
Something not discussed that I thought they missed.

How could they be sure of the identity of the sender of the telegram? The lender could have sent it herself.
I guess this could have been verified and recorded already, only I am not aware.
Beginner episode 2
It's pretty funny. The deduction bits remind me of Furuhata Ninzaburo a little bit. I really like the beginning and ending video passages when the theme song plays in the background.

Finished watching Change last night, definitely could see why it won Drama of the Season back in the spring. There was only one single thing that I had issue with:

That 22 freaking minute long speech at the end. It's impressive to see Kimura Takuya do a one-take that well (wouldn't be surprised if he had cue cards though), but dear LORD it kept going!
Waiting patiently for TimeLes to release the final subs for BOTH shows I'm trying to finish, Rookies and Mop Girl. In the meantime, I guess I'll plow through Code Blue and Tomorrow to take care of those...

Episodes 1 and 2 of Koi wa Tatakai. Very much like Sex and the City without the R-ratedness. Also finished Aibou 4 the other night. Checked out part of an episode of SP and the action segment alone made me interested in this. Gotta download or get this drama (non-pink subs version) somehow... _________________
There were some memorable episodes, and some really good performances.
But the show was... at it's core... depressing.
We watch these people running around... trying to set things right. Doing something they always wanted to do, or in some cases finding the courage to do what's right.
You get attached to them. You go along with them. You root for them.
And in the end... they die. Because at the beginning... they die.
It just sort of wore me down after a while.
It took me a long time to finish off all 9 episodes. _________________

Agreed. I mean, the concept was great and all, but within a short 45-minute episode and knowing that there's no happy ending for the main protagonist at least, it was a tad depressing.
Currently watching Strawberry on the Shortcake. I am a Hideaki Takizawa fan, and it has been a while since I viewed a drama featuring him. I became a fan after I saw him in Majou no Jouken... Then I saw Romeo and Juliet where he looked so emaciated; tried watching Boku no Madonna and I found it boring. At least I lasted through SOS. Takky's performance here is good and Kyoko Fukuda is really cute here. And the Takky here resembles the cute 17-year old guy character he played in Majou. Except that I got fed up with Kyoko's "wagamama" attitude in this drama.......

I'm currently in a Takki mode as well. I enjoyed Boku Dake no Madonna (and got a kick out of finding Koizumi's son played one of the characters). SOS was weird but I gave it 7/10 because somehow I find some of the scenes profound.
Replaying my favorite scenes of him in Taiyo no Kisetsu and been recommending it in the "recommendation thread" . Other wonderful Takki dramas are Satomi Hakenden and Antique.

Just curious...the opening credits shows B&W photos of Sakai Masaaki (the male lead of Muri na Renai) and Monsieur Kamayatsu together back in the sixties...were they a duo or part of a group in reality...or it just photoshop...
It also says there that Masaaki Sakai was the lead in a 70's comedy show called Saiyuki, which was broadcast in Australia, very badly dubbed and renamed "Monkey". It's a cult classic in Australia. I was amazed... I never realised it's the same guy. Apparently it was never released dubbed in the USA.

Hi,
I'm currently watching
Kekkon Dekinai Otoko: (up to ep5) Enjoying this immensely. It's great to see a comedy which doesn't rely on overacting and slapstick, has depth and subtlety and isn't afraid of moving at a slow pace to develop character. Muri na Renai couldn't have existed if it wasn't for this show. Fast becoming my favourite Japanese comedy. I wonder if there are any more jcomedies quite this good.
MPD Psycho: Directed by Takashi Miike, so it isn't Nodame Cantabile. What it is however is dark, strange, disturbing, complex, twisted, confusing and sometimes hilarious. Unfortunately I'm watching the official R2 DVDs which has very bad picture quality and subs.
And I've only just started watching this season's shows:
Yasuko to Kenji (up to ep4): So over the top it's fallen off the other side. Hard to believe a show could be so gloriously silly, but touching at the same time. Normally has me in tears of laughter. I just hope that it doesn't get too repetitive.
Gonzo (up to ep3): OK, the comedy doesn't work, but it looks as if there could be lots of twists and turns in the central mystery, and there is a good supporting cast of characters.
New shows I tried, but didn't like:
Seigi no Mikata: Another sibling show, looks as if it could have been good, but unfortunately I loathed the character of the older sister so much that I couldn't watch it.
Taiyo to Umi no Kyoshitsu: Terrible, totally derivative, and I don't think they left a cliche unused in the first episode. Watched solely as it has a mini Kita Yoshio reunion with the fantastic Yoshitaka Yuriko and Kohinata Fumiyo, and also the woman from LIAR GAME.
33pun Tantei: Utterly inept 'comedy' whose best gag was nicked from Police Squad.
Maou: Had great hopes for this, but was greatly disappointed, it was awful, the lead Johnnys are the least convincing detective and lawyer I've ever seen. Why does the detective have to run everywhere, is he too young for a driver's licence? Something of Death Note vibe, even the opening titles could have come straight from an anime.
Also watched Lotto 6 de San-oku Ni-senman En Ateta Otoko and Tomorrow, but neither made me want to watch the second episode.

Monkey was massive in the UK also, it was my favourite show when I was young, but I never made the connection either. I've just rewatched some of Muri na Renai and it is obvious when you know it is him.

He's also in Churasan, which is the first drama I saw him in. Ever since I started watching it, I had a nagging feeling I had seen him before, but I couldn't place him. I just assumed he must have had a small part in some other show, but now i'm beginning to think I may have sort-of recognised him from Monkey

because he parked the car far, far, faaaaar away? its a japanese cliche thing . hate the running and the whole east shibuya detectives. Don't know how could the lawyer be inept though.. is it because he's small
I've noticed the anime-ness too (the leads wear the same clothes all the time - a chunk of budget went to the lighting department instead) but anime like Korean adaptation is pretty engaging. So you are stopping after the first episode?[/b]
