thx for the info, aka & bm. but i actually got off my lazy butt and decide to check myself. is this the shinsengumi that we are all talking about? (click on the .gif file.)
it says about 10 eps. are there 2 separate dramas on the same title?
wow...it seems none of the Taiga dramas can win you over, ne?^^ You said Musashi is the worst taiga production?!? So, what is your favorite taiga drama??
Gomen ne...for being off-topic x) I promise it'll be the last time!!^______^ I just thought its still related a bit...coz its a 2002 NHK Taiga drama^^
Well, i did like Toshie & Matsu and the 1998 Taiga - Tokugawa Yoshinobu.
People, i'm sorry for being particular. BUT please do not misuse the term "Taiga".
1) Not every period drama is a Taiga. Kimura's Chuushingura 1/47
or the 4/5 parter Okada Junichi is filming for NHK is NOT a Taiga. These are just period dramas.
2) TV stations use "Taiga" to term a major production incurring major production costs, usually spanning 2 to 4 seasons. To quote you an example, Fujitv termed Shiroi Koyoto as a modern day Taiga.... why? Spanning 2 seasons, adapted from a prize winning, best selling novel, huge production costs involving top actors.
3) There is only 1 NHK Taiga per year. It will always be a 49 parter. 10% to 20% of the allocated funds for the station goes to the production of this Taiga. Bearing in mind that NHK is state-funded, being chosen to star in a Taiga is one of the most prestigious mark of any "ham" actor's career.
I think Shingo did too great a job with Shingo mama.... i'm having a very difficult time looking at him and not thinking of Shingo mama too

Nah, Niko. The one that everybody's debating over is the NHK Taiga version with that SMAP guy as the star...

So many subjects covered here.
Well To start with I am having difficulty getting into Shingo's character in this drama. Like a lot of people I can see Shingo Mama in his big shiny eyes. 'Not that there is anything wrong with that.'....I just think it was miscasting and Shingo knew it was too much for him to chew at the beginning. It made me want to laugh when he was sitting there in full dress armour commanding the fencing contest. I wonder if that will show up on a Smap concert or TV show?????
I loved Mushahi and I too was heartbroken when my beautiful samurai was killed. And I do mean Matsuoka Masahiro....
Crazy about Smap in any form...together or singly. Concerts are fabulous whether or not they can sing. I would point out that there were time when Sinatra lost his singing voice but that didn't stop admirers listening....weelll...stretching it a bit. anyway Kimura is a good singer most of the time but he holds back to fit in I think. He also knows that he is turning everyone on when he goes into the concert music and general prancing around. The composers and arrangers get most of the credit in my opinion because the tunes stick in my head ad infinitum.
Enough already...just want to agree with any Smap admirer and any Musahi series lover. Any costume drama intrigues me most of the time.

Haha. I'd e-mail those SMAP guys about that...

Hi bmwracer....Hi Dear Man.
Peggy
Hi Peggy! And welcome!
I'm surprised with all this Musashi talk... It might be sorta late, but I'm gonna start a Musashi thread and see how it goes...
And it'll give me a chance to post more Otsu pics... *is chased down the street by jdorama members throwing rocks, containers, etc.*

ahochaude,
Re liking ...Sorry to break that up but it refers to two different hunks
BMWracer and The Man. Must say never had any run-ins with BMW....but I am bit scared of The Man. I think he has a soft side hidden away there. He's very clever
BMW seems rather kind...and you know that gets points every time

Yeah, bmw is a cool guy and The Man is a very insightful guy. But both are good in my book.

I am Peggy.....my truelove is Brad from his RAF pilot days. I stole his name for my username. At one time we were both known as Brad. That really tied everyon in knots.

Wait until episode 14 there's going to be a young woman who was forced by his father to disguise as a man since Kondo Isami and his gang will stay at his place. That was quite hilarious...don't wanna spoil anything..just wait until episode 14!
