I watched the first episode of Ryusei no Kizuna. And I loved it. Right now it's well balanced between the drama and comedy. I wonder if it leaves that way. Taisuke is a great role for Ryo. At first I wanted him to take Nino's role, but now I think he's better at funny one, especially after Last Friends. The scenes I liked the most were his disguises and conversation with his brother on the phone ( Post it ? - LOL). I also liked the flashbacks when they were little and Koichi's screenplay. Nino's role is good - as the oldest he's serious. Erika as Shizuna is just cute. And last but not least, since I'm the person who's very hard to forgive, I love the idea of revenge

Am I the only one who doesn't like the drama THAT much? I love the concept and the mystery part, but the comedy's just too exaggerated that it ruins it, IMO.

Half of the viewers were expecting something dark but got Kudo Kankuro humor instead, and it is Kudo Kankuro humor.

Thankfully I'm watching this knowing a little about Kudokan's humor. Not a lot of people could digest it at first view. Its his style to confuse people... its not normal to laugh when something sad or gory is the core of the story. I felt that way watching Kisarazu Cats Eye and IWGP. Its awkward yet you are amused by it, its confusing. The words are witty yet so stupid and seemingly random. Right after you just about to feel the warmness of the characters, he'll yanked the rug under you by serving crack. I'm still perplex why I love his works so much at first but ended up getting the underlying message he was trying to tell. What I love the most about his scripts are the colorful characters he painted. Its a joy for me who loves character driven story.

The discussion about RnK at d-addicts was quite interesting too. I think the words spoken by Taisuke and Mika were particularly interesting.

I love that dorama more and more. My favorite scene was when little Koichi was talking to the police and felt guilty for what have happened. Asking the police for letting his younger siblings to sleep was so cute of Koichi. When the brothers decided to don't tell Shizuna the truth about their parent's death to protect her I almost cried. Little siblings are really cute. These kids impress me, I don't think it's easy for them to act such emotional roles. Ryo as Taisuke makes me laugh in a good way. The scenes that made me laugh the most was Koichi's idea of swindling Takayama's money, Shizuna's disguises and all the story. I can't wait for the next episode, especially seeing Taisuke with a beard. I love the bonds between 3 of them and their determination to find their parents' murderer.

ep 3 was awesome!!! i've only just watched the raw versions with my very little understanding of japanese, and i enjoyed it already!

the next episode looks like it's gona be more interesting. until now, mika's role is still very vague and insignificant but next episode looks like there'll be some revelations.

could this be because of the change in directors? or is the storyline itself just more interesting? i'm gona have to watch it again to answer my own questions.

This drama keeps on getting better and better!

Koichi, Koichi.. the sensitive big brother. I guess his character differs a lot from the book Koichi but I love this one more. Character flaws are wonderful (and he's so smexy and cute ). Taisuke was brilliant in this episode. I say all the Ryo naysayers should stfu by now 'cause by the end of this I bet he'll prove them all wrong. Good job Ryo . He almost stole my attention off Nino's Koichi.

I wonder how will they go on swindling with all these people connected to them knowing about their past like George-san, the detectives, Togami (although, he thought it was a joke). They are not really living in hiding it seems.

i really love how they insert the flashbacks of the siblings. especially in episode 3 in the scene where the kids had to pack their stuff and only grab one personal item...and they merged the older and younger siblings into that scene. sugoii! that was so touching.

So they are done with the swindling. No Koichi climbing down walls? Koichi the cameraman & Taisuke the reporter? They are not professional swindlers at all. It never occurred to me that the swindling by Ariake was just for fun because it was implied in the book that 3 of them made a living out of swindling from the start. They didn't include Koichi bitterness on being swindled in the drama and Koichi actually had a real, stable job (which poignantly reminds him of his dad..) so the swindling was somewhat unnecessary. They are just doing it because they can and wanted to get extra money (which eventually were wasted on stickers & t-shirts). The little revenge they get back was satisfying though.

Don't get me wrong because this is not a complain. I'm just realizing how genius this has turned out. Its like Kisarazu Cats Eye all over again!
They once said it'll follow closely to the book.. well, they lied. They need to hook the book fans for the sake of ratings anyways .
Just enjoy the ride and see the whole thing being remade
