Which dorama from this year has been your favourite?
So far, I'm not too impressed about the doramas this year. Especially compared to last year.. Last years doramas were much better than this years imo. What do you all think?
yeah.. sou omoimasu!
this year dramas all seemed to be lacking something. nothing really have that punch.. I think the SPs shown this year are the better stuff to watch on tv... haha.. _________________

You've probably seen a lot of them, it might help if you list what you HAVE seen
That said, the only ones i've seen that fit the bill are Unfair, Koshonin and the Furuhata Ninzaburo series (but they are like 1 mystery per episode).
I don't mind the one mystery per episode types. I've already seen Unfair, but not the other two. I'm kind of in the process of getting a couple of the Furuhata Ninzaburo series. I might try to get Koshonin too. Thanks!
And here's the list of the dramas that I watched (not sure if I got all of them):
Nemureru Mori
Koori no Sekai
Ashita no kita Yoshio
Bara no nai Hanaya
Bokura no Yuuki
Kirakira Hikaru
Sora kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi
Trick series
Unfair

I saw this in the early 2000's, but I can't really remember it, other than I wasn't really impressed by it. Or maybe if I saw it without having to wait for the next episode every week might have a better impact. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Any other recs?
I don't know if you've seen all these, but:
Keizoku- Really weird.
Kindaichi series- I only saw the one with Matsumoto Jun but the first ones are probably better.
Watashitachi no Kyoukasho
Joshi Deka- It was okay.
I've seen a couple others but I wouldn't really recommend them. _________________

The one with Kame and Juri-chan was pretty bad: Kame couldn't act his way out of a paper bag... To believe he could solve a crime, one would also have to believe that the Earth is flat and/or the center of the universe.

I saw Keizoku and one of the Kindaichi series with the Kinki, but I can't remember what happened, so I'll check them out. And thanks for the other suggestions as well!

I got that one recently and I guess I'll push it to the bottom of my list. If I had known that it was that particular special, I probably wouldn't have asked for it. _________________

Just watch the first 5-10 minutes: you'll get to see Juri-chan judo girly-man Kame's ass in a most delightful way.

I haven't heard of Keiji no Genba, so I'll check that out. Thanks!

All 6 of the past seasons ( plus there's a pre-season of 3 episodes, as well ) and the movie?
Only about half of the 2nd season, all of 3 and 4, and currently watching the 5th season and anticipating the 6th and 7th season if it ever airs here. I would love to see the movie if it was available as well. _________________
Definitely one of the best family drama I've seen. There are no stars, and the description/classification is a bit misleading, but it really is very well-acted and moving. It has inspired me to treasure my family and friends more, probably like no other series had before.

Sorry, I should have posted here.
Hello, new to this site and fairly new to JDoramas. A bit about myself, I'm married to a Japanese girl who of course knows JDoramas and loves them. We live in Canada and watch these JDoramas together but me being Asian CAD I don't get the humor as you would expect as much as she does. For instance we just finished watching Nodame Cantabile, and my wife was laughing out loud at some parts while I didn't get it. At first she didn't like this drama but midway through she got hooked and loved it. I enjoyed it as well.
What I'm looking for is something light, romantic, with some fun. My wife doesn't want to see any more highschool dramas as we're both more into the adult ones with adult themes. Here's list of what we have and what we watched:
1. Kui-Tan 1&2 (we both enjoyed this series alot, my wife really enjoyed it - 9/10).
2. Hotaru No Hikari (both our favorite so far, and would love to see more like this - 10/10).
3. First Kiss (I really enjoyed it and loved the theme song. I found this series touching as well. My wife enjoyed it abit but didn't like the lead actress. My wife would give this series a 5/10 whereas I would give it a 7.5/10).
4. Ushi Ni Negai Wo (Love & Farm). I enjoyed this one and my wife not so much. Wife 6/10, me 7/10.
5. Yamada Taro Monogatari (I realy enjoyed this one as well, and my wife liked it too. I found it very touching. (me 8/10, wife 7.5/10).
6. Magister Negi Magi - Purchased on the advice of the store lady, but we didn't make it through the first episode. Found it too silly. Should we give it another chance?
7. Rondo - Have it but haven't watched it yet. Any good?
8. Liar Game - Same as above. Any good?
9. Gokusen 1-3. Watched Season 1 and it was good. My wife laughed out loud many times. Good message as I find most JDoramas have a message. Started season 2 and about half way through, then switched to Nodame Cantabile.
10. Kekkon Dekinai Otaka - Unmarried Man. We both loved this one and would love to see more like this. 10/10 and our favorite along with Hotaru No Hikari.
11. At Home Dad. Another favorite that we both enjoyed. 9.5/10 for both of us... very touching.
12. Dignity of the Temporary Staff. Sorry don't know the Japanese name, but this one my wife really enjoyed 9/10 and I quite liked as well 8/10.
I guess our favorites are Hotaru No Hikari, Unmarried Man, At Home Dad, Nodame Cantabile, and Dignity of the temporary Staff. If anyway can recommend more like these that would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any and all recommendations!
9. Gokusen 1-3. Watched Season 1 and it was good. My wife laughed out loud many times. Good message as I find most JDoramas have a message. Started season 2 and about half way through, then switched to Nodame Cantabile.
Wise decision: 2 and 3 are just recycles of the first Gokusen with different girly-boys.
I'd recommend Koi ni Ochitara, it's about big business and has a bit of a romantic angle... And really good performances from the entire cast.

*edit* It has Shiro in it, so you may have seen it already. If not, I have a spare copy since I accidentally traded for it twice
I already have this drama in my collection and I think I saw it a while back because some of the episodes looked familiar.

Thanks everyone for your recommendations!
I checked out the ones recommended and the ones that caught by eye based on the plot lines were:
1. Koi Ni Ochitara
2. Brother Beat
3. Koi Wa Tatakai
I'll start with these three. Forgot to mention that I just bought Anego but haven't watched it yet. Recommended by the sales guy atthe store I go to to buy the DVD's with english subtitles. Did you guys enjoy Angeo?
Also interested in Proposal Daisakusen. Last question, is teh Dorama Densha Otoko worth watching even though I already seen the movie? The store sales guy says the dorama is much much better and I should still watch it.
