For Maki Yoko's fans:

FYI: I'm subbing her latest WOWOW SP, 6-jikan Go Ni Kimi Wa Shinu.

Any progress on the subbing?

For those interested, 75% or so is finished. Sorry I'm too lazy ( and not creative enough ) to create a fansub wiki page to update any progress.

I will pose this question though. I certainly feel for the plight of my fellow fansubbers concerning streaming etc... This project and most of the projects I work on are not in much demand because I want to sub shows that fans may want to see ( like older dramas that have been overlooked ) that would not be subbed otherwise. I'm not sure if I should release this as softsubs or hardsubs. I'm leaning toward hardsubs because I will be using a special font for a short segment that won't show up without downloading and then installing that font. Plus some people don't like .ass files and that's what I prefer to release anyway.

Anyway, progress is being made and I promise that it'll be worth the wait.

Excellent. I have no preference for soft or hard subs, unless the subber in question has poor English. It appears that yours is fine, so a hard sub would be OK. Just one request - please don't use fancy fonts or colors. It's not necessary and just spoils otherwise excellent work in some cases, IMHO.

And i'm sure people would prefer you spent time subbing instead of creating pages @ d-addicts. Wink

If you want suggestions about which dramas you might want to sub, please let us know here. I'm sure we could come up with a good list. I know bmwracer would love to see Top Sales done http://jdorama.com/drama.1282.htm (as would I)

I'm using a simple font for this drama, though I have used different ones in the past. Although I do try to use ones that aren't too fancy and use crazy colors. But when I do use a special font, there is a reason, though it may not be apparent to anyone other than myself.

Here's a screenshot:

At her young age, Yoko Maki is already a well-rounded actress. 2001 proved to be a busy year for the young actress, beginning with her film debut at the age of 19, in the film Drug, directed by Hiroshi Sugawara.

I'm in the same boat with the BT download. I had to shut my comp down this morning because one of my kids clicked something they shouldn't, and now I have a malware infection on the comp, but before that the download hit a high of about 15kb/s - it'll take weeks at that rate Sad

It could be uploaded to somewhere like Veoh, which has no problem with large files like that. Wink

i don't think this news has been posted yet but she just had a shotgun marriage recently..

Actress Yoko Maki married, pregnant
Sat, November 15, 2008 (6:34pm EST)

26-year-old actress Yoko Maki is the latest to announce a sudden wedding. She tied the knot on Tuesday, and she is currently three months pregnant, due to give birth early next summer.

Maki's husband is a 26-year-old salaryman in an industry unrelated to show business. They have reportedly been dating for about three years, and they are already living together.

Maki has been gaining in popularity since her appearance in the Fuji TV action drama "SP" in late 2007. While her pregnancy means that she won't be able to do any more action roles for the time being, she plans to continue working until her last month of pregnancy, including her voice acting role in the ongoing "Michiko to Hatchin" anime series. She is also aiming to return to work as quickly as possible after the child is born.

it's really not the large file size that's the problem, it's easy splitting up an archive file. it's uploading that much without something going wrong and having the start one or more files over. If you had a DSL line like mine the upload is a fraction of your download. I'd take me about a full day to upload that amount.

I do, which is why I can't really upload stuff to places like Megaupload (except small stuff - and people have asked me to in the past).

But the amount of stuff on Veoh that's over 1G in size is astounding, so there's a lot of people who can upload at good speed - and it usually downloads overnight for me at around/over 60kb/s Wink

you may want to give out your general location... ie, N America, Asian, Europe.. etc if you dont want to be more specific.

BTW, i'm not advocating uploading the subbed file to Veoh: I know that's one of the pet hates of subbers Wink
