She was thick in the waist, takin' up space...I think she's shed her winter coat since then though.

Can you compare the two? I mean there's an age difference and its over a decade. It doesn't seem fair to me cause they're both in different categories, age wise.

In any case I' would take Ryoko cause Erika just comes across as a real bitch. But maybe that's just me. Victory! Peace!

I don't think age makes a difference.... Only in one's mind.

I don't agree, we're humans and humans age. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with aging, don't get me wrong I'm not promoting ageism or anything like that. But the the two women in question here are a decade apart. It's like trying to compare a 50 yr old with a 20 yr old, imo it just wouldn't be fair.
In any case, I really don't like questions "like whose prettier?" because beauty is in the eye of the beholder, everyone has different tastes. I think both Yonekura and Erika are attractive in their own way. Victory! Peace!

But we're only talking about a mere ten years, not 20 or 30.

Yeah, when I started watching J-dramas, I noticed how any females over 30 were considered old. It was surprising for me.

Age 21 is considered ripe for early retirement in the Japanese entertainment world.

Wedding bells for Sawajiri!?
Sun, December 21, 2008 (4:43pm EST)

Newspapers are reporting today that actress Erika Sawajiri (22) will soon be getting married to multimedia creator Tsuyoshi Takashiro (44). A source close to the couple has said that they will be registering their marriage around the start of the new year.

The relationship between Sawajiri and Takashiro was first discovered in September 2007, and early this year they began living together in London.

Ever since the discovery of her relationship with Takashiro and the PR disaster for the movie "Closed Note," Sawajiri's career has been relatively quiet. However, she is reportedly planning to increase her acting, singing, and modeling work next year.

Erika-sama is going to get married.
She is indeed a talented actress...but has already ruined her career. bleh

====================================

Erika Sawajiri to get married at Meiji Shrine on Jan 19

Saturday 03rd January, 04:41 AM JST

TOKYO —

Actress Erika Sawajiri, 22, told reporters outside her Setagaya home on Wednesday that she and hypermedia creator Tsuyoshi Takashiro, 44, will get married at Meiji Shrine on Jan 19. Sawajiri came out to the front of her house around noon wearing sunglasses, oozing the gErika-samah image she has become famous for, but was sincere and fielded questions for 15 minutes, and showed off the ring Takashiro designed for her.

She elaborated on how Takashiro proposed to her, saying it was in August last year when they were viewing a total solar eclipse in the mountains of the Altai Republic in Russia. She said: gI went to Turkey to see the solar eclipse with him and a couple of other friends, when I was 19 and we werenft a couple yet. That was our first vacation together, so being proposed to under an eclipse was very special for me. Wefre going to see another one in July from Amami Island in Kagoshima.h

When asked why they decided on a Japanese-style ceremony for the wedding, Sawajiri said: gWell, we are Japanese. And I want to wear a kimono. It wonft be pure white though.h On the reception which will be held in Hawaii, she said: gA stylist friend of mine is designing the dress for me. It wonft be all white; it will have roses on it as well.h

Asked about her attraction to Takashiro, she said: gHefs very much an adult and Ifm a bit of a brat, but I donft feel the age difference. Hefs very open-minded and I feel comfortable when Ifm with him.h

Sawajiri returned from London on Dec 29 and said she went to the graves of her father who passed away when she was in junior high school and her brother who died in a car accident when she was in high school, and informed them of her upcoming marriage.

She also said she will travel to Barcelona in late January to study graphic design for six months, and will resume acting work after summer.
