I think you should have a class project: A clay model of the battleship Yamato complete with working guns. Take it out on Lake Tsumabuki. If it floats they pass, if it sinks, they fail.

You know what might be cool ...? Show the class the Azumi movies.

Granted, it may not be as good as going to Japan and visiting places and seeing things. But, it sure is a motivating movie that encourages more independent research on elements of Japan.

I don't think I'll have time to see them, which is too bad. I only have a week and a few days to complete the unit before their practical exam.

Sure thing. Victory! Peace!

I don't suppose there are any local museums displaying Japanese pottery, ne?

There's always the 'net... Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_pottery

Someone puked on me at work today. After a few seconds it started to get cold and smelly. So, I came home. Beaten

Probably more like real insecure and doesn't trust anybody. I worked for somebody like that once. Had to remind him that the graveyards are full of people that thought they were indispensable.

Sounds like my boss too.

He was on "holiday" with his wife recently, but kept getting up at 4AM to check his emails because his wife was getting annoyed with him working while he was supposed to be on holiday.

To be fair, I guess I should be thankful I still have a job... But the boss makes unemployment look very tempting at times. Sweat

O.K. this is what I get for trying to be smart. (Notice I didn't say I AM smart, I said I was TRYING to be smart)
They came up with a new test tool recently and it's a total piece of crap. I started fooling around with it and figured out some "work arounds" to make it at least half-assed efficient. I'm now the office "expert" on this piece of junk. Bonk

I just read the news that 1up was just bought by UGO, and there is a list of people who were let go. As far as I can tell, it looks like amrayu was spared the ax. These are tough times.... Sweat

Follow-Up: I introduced my Japanese Pottery lesson to my students and they got really excited about it. So at lunch I went to make sure my supply of clay (5 boxes) was still safe, only to find out that my colleague used it all up! So now I have no clay. Cry I tried to order more, but the order won't arrive until Monday, and by then it'll be too late.

    Bah!

That's what I was thinking. Or maybe juggle the schedule somehow?

Wow... someone on our team got fired today. It's basically just a contraction going on. They don't want to lay-off anybody, there's never been a lay-off here. But they make it miserable for people.

Put them on probabtion and then overwhelm them with work. When they can't complete all the work... they are fired under the terms of the probabtion.

I think everybody gets a turn at being on probation. Our boss is told by his boss to reduce your staff. That's how it's done.

It happened to two other people on our team recently too. Somehow, I made it by my probation. I still want to quit and open up my own business or just go ahead and move to Japan to become a "proxy" and teach a little English on the side.
