They must've taken all day to format. Beaten Sweat

Wow, that is a lot of hard drive space to work with. I'm still in gigabyte territory Sweat

I'm hoping to get a new LCD monitor by next month. The prices on the 22-inch models are low enough, but I'm holding out to see if I can get a 1080p model for a good price.

yeah, took about 6-7 hours for both since i formatted the 2 drives at the same time... i thougt it would never finish...

for lcd monitors, try looking at dealnews.com from time to time... they usually feature where to get stuff cheaper...

if you dont mind going with a not so well known brand, and not very picky with colors... you can even get a bigger lcd monitor. The HannsG 28" 1920x1080 goes for around $370. and if youw ait some more, im sure they'll drop furhter in price... I bought one more than a year ago, and havent had issues yet...

MAGICJACK is really magic!

Just bought this mind blowingly easy to hook up long distance phone service that works through your computer.

If someone else has already posted about this sorry. Bow

We got it for my BF so he can have an AMerican/free phone through his computer. When you buy the JAck you receive the number. If you are anywhere in the world you can have an American telephone number.
Should be a substantial $$ savings.

Anyway it is really cool, sound excellent, except we havent been able to hook up the Voicemail part and there is effectively no Customer Support.
All in all an awesome thing. Thumbsup

I think it may be time for a new DVD drive in my comp Sad

I've had quite a few authored DVD's finish with the message: "Burn completed successfully but finalising failed" or something like that. I've tried the same files, discs and the same program (ConvertXtoDVD) on my work comp with no problem, so I can only assume my DVD burner is dying Sad

I think it depends on what you intend to use a new laptop for. I've heard and read that Macs are good for graphics and video work, but I wouldn't know for sure myself as I haven't used a Mac in a long time. Windows PCs I would think are perfectly fine in most cases.

I agree.

Personally I have never had a problem with Vista (Business in this case) although this is a desktop, not a lappy. It's up to you to decide if the extra money you will pay is worth it.

Totally on the money here. A mac has more power for graphics and video/images/web-related things. It's more an imaging computer.

If all you're going to use your laptop for is visiting the net, using Microsoft Office apps (available for Macs as well), or burning, it's better to stick with PC.

Sorry!!! Hahahaha, I totally didn't see the last post on the page! I read your response in the Computers thread... I'm still contemplating... Sad

To be totally honest, from someone who uses a balance of PC and Mac on a daily basis, I don't see why you would choose a PC over a Mac.

Yea, they cost WAY more, but I've never had a problem with them, and their interface is better. They're easier to use, and you see Macs more and more in large co-operations. They're just more convenient.

I'm not going to bash the PC or call a PC user "deluded", because there's nothing wrong with a good PC. Macs are just better IN MY OPINION. More convenient. More efficient. Definitely more sexy. Wink

hmm.. i'll count the "not in current use" ones as well.
PowerBase 604 that i was going to use as a print/file server, but never got around to doing it.
my sister's icebook that my nephew walked on and somehow ruined the screen, can be repaired, but i haven't gotten around to.
a 15" G4 TiBook that needs some work that I also never got around to doing and probably isn't worth repairing anymore.
Quadra840, Color Classic, IIe in the garage.
