Hiroshi Abe teams up with Nozomi Ohashi in "Shiroi Haru"
Mon, February 23, 2009 (12:57am EST)
Actor Hiroshi Abe has been chosen to star in a new Fuji TV drama series titled "Shiroi Haru" ("White Spring"). This is his first lead role in a drama since "Kekkon Dekinai Otoko" in 2006.
The show's theme is the love between a parent and child. Abe plays a man just released after a 10-year prison sentence. He encounters a young girl, who turns out to be his own daughter that he conceived with his ex-girlfriend just before he went to jail.
Abe's daughter will be played by 9-year-old actress Nozomi Ohashi. She recently got her break as a voice actress in Hayao Miyazaki's "Gake no Ue no Ponyo," for which she also sang the theme song with folk duo Fujioka Fujimaki. "Shiroi Haru" will be her first regular role in a TV series.
Other cast members include Yuriko Yoshitaka and Kenichi Endo. Broadcast begins on April 14 in Fuji TV's Tuesday 10:00pm time slot.

Heck, with those two as the leads I'd watch it if it were about a non conformist High School Teacher who goes out of his or her way to meddle in the private lives of their precious students.
But it's not! It's a mystery and Koji plays a cop close to retirement, but hot on the trial.

btw! LOL
it seemed kame is loosing his charm in general teens here in japan. my sis who's attending in HS says that kame is no longer #1 on their lists.
it's changed to
1 arashi
2 yamapi
3 kame
off-topic, im just amused seeing that they listed Arashi as a group, not just one member of the group..xD

kame's latest kami no shizuku, it seems not to be appealling to them.
i thought that drama is a good one, coz i love wine. iwas like always saying "true" everytime there's an incite about wine. maybe the theme don't appeal to them or maybe our age gap is a big factor. a certain interests between age range maybe has a big factor
that's most probably the case..teens would rather dwell unto light-hearted or romance type of dramas instead of the serious ones..although of course we can't disregard the fact that the cast is one big factor as well..as for the case of Kame...why oh why?? _________________

Wait a second. I never help sub anything that has a fruityboy lead.
Also it's tanpatsu, which also never really get subbed either.
But yes, you make a valid point.
No, you got me wrong, I meant that momo-chan (and/or you, I should have mentioned you too I guess) may sub it because it doesn't have a fruityboy lead. Most of the sub groups wouldn't.
Trust me, you guys are VERY appreciated by us drama fans

^ No worries, I wasn't offended or anything. I was just pointing out that there are some fansubbers that actually want to work on dramas that have some substance and not just pretty boy fluff. There are plenty of folks that want to sub those. Personally, I'd like to see as many series get subbed as possible so fans can have the most choices available.
Fukatsu Eri is one of my favorites so if this is good I wouldn't mind helping. We'll just have to see.

Yuki Amami's the "Boss"
Wed, February 25, 2009 (1:08am EST)
Actress Yuki Amami is taking on her next lead drama role this spring in Fuji TV's "BOSS." This will be her first time playing a police detective in a TV series.
Amami stars as the new "boss" of a team of quirky detectives who are trying to fight a series of brutal crimes. Her character is intelligent and capable in her work. But even though she can understand the mentalities of the criminals she pursues, she has difficulty understanding men, leaving her unable to find what she really wants: a husband.
The nickname "boss" is strongly associated with Yujiro Ishihara's character in the drama series "Taiyou ni Hoero!" from the '70s and '80s, where he played a similar role as the leader of a detective team.
Amami's supporting cast in "Boss" includes Yutaka Takenouchi, Erika Toda, Junpei Mizobata, Michiko Kichise, and Yoichi Nukumizu. The show will air on Thursdays at 10:00pm, starting on April 16.

^this part just made me when will we ever read "His character is intelligent but all he wants it to find a wife."I hope there is more to that drama than this old-fashioned Briget Jones story line.
The good news Yutaka Takenouchi is in Maybe he's the intelligent wife searcher.

Same reaction for me. At first I was thinking, "Oh, cool, a new drama from Yuki!" but then I got to that part and I thought, "Oh sh*t! She just did all this in Around 40" But, optimist that I am, I'm looking forward to it.

Inamori stars in first drama in four years
Fri, February 27, 2009 (1:54am EST)
Actress Izumi Inamori is starring in a television series for the first time since four years ago. The show is a serious human drama titled "Aishiteru ~Kaiyou~," about the love and conflict between a mother and her child.
The drama is based on a manga by Minoru Ito. Inamori plays Satsuki, the mother of a 10-year-old boy. When her son ends up killing a 7-year-old boy, conflict arises in their family, leading to a lot of tears and pain. One of the show's main themes is forgiveness ("kaiyou"). While the original comic told the story from the perspective of the victim's family, the drama will focus on the assailant's family.
Yuka Itaya plays the victim's mother. NTV will begin broadcasting the series on April 15 in its Wednesday 10:00pm time slot.
