I don�Lt dislike Kimutaku but he�Ls probably the most overraeted actor in Japan.
I just watched Engine and it is the exact same copy of 2004 Wonderful Life, you just change Kimutaku with Sorimachi Takashi; Koyuki with Hasegawa Kyoko and Racing with baseball. And the main plot is exactly the same: some wached out athlete with bad attitude who hates kids is putten in a situation where he have to work with kids, and then he starts to become found with the kids, falls in love with the female lead who loves kids(Koyuki and Hasekyo) and ends up a professional athlete again(Racing and Baseball). Now Engine had a 22% rating, i don�Lt know how much Wonderful Life had, but i�Lm pretty sure it wasn�Lt anywhere near 22%(which is a great rating).

Other thing i don�Lt like about him is the fact that everyone call his doramas: "the Kimutaku doramas", like the other actors are just secondary to him.
Beautiful Life for example should be a "Tokiwa Takako dorama" since she was by far the star of the show.

Probably like the drama (and the ratings), this thread is more about Kimutaku than the drama itself.

Ichikawa Ebizo is also Matsu Takako's second cousin. They went to the same highschool. Ebizo's grandfather and Matsu's grandfather are brothers, and they are well-known kabuki actors. by the way, just wondering, isn't Ebizo's character a cop in the show? why would he only appear for episode 1? i thought the police station and all the cops and scientists are permanent 'features'...?
anyway, he reminded me of some characters that could fit into the HK movie - The Infernal Affairs.. or rather the Hollywood remake - The Departed.

He does look really stylish and cool... Definitely a cop.

Mizushima Hiro should stick with stiff characters. I'm not too keen seeing him overact as the pathetic rookie cop.
Got to agree with Kimutaku=Mc Donald's analogy. I'm lovin it =P
Looking forward to Blekt in episode 2 and wishing for more Ebizo.

There's a rumor that Yamaguchi Tomoko will be the guest star in the finale episode. Some people said "TBS is too desperate (to get the ratings up, up and away)!"

i think the drama would be cooler if they made it like The Departed.


anyway, i think the discussion about kimutaku and mcdonald is really funny. but from where i'm from, the quality of mcdonald is dropping... the burgers are now smaller than my palm, and the hotcakes taste like cardboard...the variety just stay the same as 10 years ago...

Ep1 (Hirosue Ryoko, Ichikawa Ebizo) - 24.8%
Ep2 (GACKT, Koyuki) - 22%
Ep3 (Kamenashi Kazuya, Aibu Saki) - 16.3%

I heard the audience were boycotting Ep3 due to Kame's appearance. Seem like there was this "DO NOT watch Episode 3" campaign going on at 2ch. I wonder if this is true...
