Have been holding off on watching current season dramas, though I expect at the rate GiriGiri Fansubs is releasing, I'll probably soon start watching the 3 dramas they're subbing this time around. In the meantime, trying to watch Ai wa doda, mostly because of Ogata Ken and also because it's an older drama. It's going to be really difficult, though, if things don't start lightening up for the oldest sister. I almost can't stand watching the way her family takes advantage of her! (The poor video quality doesn't help, either. Still, happy to get to see it.)
EDIT: Oh, and have spent the past several months trying to get through Imoto yo... only two more eps to go and I still can't bring myself to just finish it off. Being totally besotted with Toyohara Kosuke isn't helping me with this one, either. I kind of like the brother, but even he gets on my nerves at times. I guess I just don't see what all the fuss is about in regards to this one... sappy, uber-predictable, contrived.
LOL... honestly, I'm usually not this negative about the dramas I watch.

Then you must be making some wise choices, 'cause there's quite a bit of junk of there to be negative about...
Oh, I wouldn't say that necessarily. I have my guilty pleasures and you know what it's like when you follow the work of an actor, writer, director, whatever... it can lead to some places you ordinarily wouldn't go or wish you hadn't.
It just struck me as a bad way to make my first entry into this topic, complaining about the two dramas I'm currently watching. More often than not, I find something to enjoy.

Watched first episodes of Nanase Futatabi and Mayonaka no Ame, which I randomly picked when deciding on what my next series will be. But it turns out it will be neither for now, as my DVD player seems to have randomly stopped working. Crap, that was my backup after the remote for the one built into the DVD broke. _________________
Did I already mention that I finished Love Shuffle? It was grand.
I've started on Minna Mukashi, as per various recommendations. I love it so far, although the story-line has been played out. Ryoko, Eita, and MIHO!!! How can I not love this? Did I mention Ryoko plays a teacher? YAY! _________________

How so?
If you think it's something electrical try unplugging it for a while.
Won't read discs. Always says "No disc." At first when it happened I thought the discs were bad until I tried them in the other player. The other player still works, I just can't turn on the softsubs without the (broken) remote. So I'm screwed. I could watch them on my computer but I only like to do that with currently airing shows since it's only one episode at a time. _________________

I've had the same issue with a couple of DVD players. They just stop working. I think it may have to do with the laser. One of my DVD players will only read discs i've burnt myself: will not work with bought or rented DVDs

What brand discs are they?
Do any and all discs not play on that player?
You might try another brand with that player or other discs to verify if the player is kaput or not.

It's all discs. Believe me, I've tried. It is kind of old but this is still disappointing. I'm going to have to buy something new. I was hoping to put that off for a bit longer. _________________

Go to Costco or Wal-Mart and buy a Philips DVD player: they're really inexpensive (<=$50) and pretty good.
