Ruri no shima?
I am not sure of the similarities between the 3 series you listed... Maybe you can try these. It's pretty rare for a drama to be purely serious without any comedic or melodramatic (subjective anyway) moment.
Home Drama
Ashita no, Kita Yoshio
Boku to Kanojo to Kanojo no Ikiru Michi

Thank you so much! I had head of it before, but had not seen it. Now I think I remember why I had not seen it. I cannot find a decent quality video of it online. Any thoughts? I don't do torrents...

You might have to resort to trading, then...

Yes. She really lights up the screen with her role. ^^

Just finished Muri na Renai. One of the most enjoyable dramas in recent memory. Great acting but that's not all of it. It takes a bit of time to get going so please give it more time when watching it.

Yes you should.
A really endearing performance by Natsukawa Yui.

Try MPD Psycho (Taju Jinkaku Tantei Psycho) directed by Miike Takashi, some parts are as nasty as his films. I suppose there also is Ame to Yume no atoni, but it's more of a touching ghost story with some mild horror elements.

Thanks guys. |
Ever check out the Kuitan series?
A fun mixture of food obsession and crime drama.
And there's also the Jiko Keisatsu series... A wacky and entertaining Cold Case-type show.
