Sounds really challenging.

She spoke some English in the movie Sonagi that she starred in...
Too bad no one ever subbed it.

Finally finished Edison no Haha. The last episode was very heartwarming. There were quite a few moments when I laughed heartily, or was nearly moved to tears.
This drama reminded me of the joy of being inquisitive again. The characters were well-written and some terrific performances really made this a very enjoyable drama for me. Sakai Maki and the kids were a joy to watch, and the actresses playing the traditionalist teacher and the monster parent were very good too considering I never really wanted to look away during their lines. Even Itoh Misaki improved from (barely) tolerable to be quite good in a few scenes late on. There were some serious discussion about the education system and its prevailing heuristics(?). It was thought-provoking almost every episode, but also there were many moments which made me laugh or lifted my spirit.
Some of the things kids say can be so surprising/refreshing. The scene in front of the school at the end of episode 6 remained my favourite for its infectious optimism and spirit. I would recommend this to anyone who still is a bit of a kid at heart.
---
I watched some chinese dramas in the last few days and the difference to jdorama in terms of quality was huge. The difference in writing stood out, there were numerous recycled lines/plot elements in cdramas. While watching Edison no Haha, it occurred to me that perhaps it was partially because I need to read subtitles, that I was particularly focused at thinking about what the characters said... that I felt I get much more from jdoramas.

for me, only Jdrama exists. for some reasons, i just can't/don't want to watch c/kdramas. |
Glad to help. But even though I like it a lot, there are other frequent posters here who thought little of it. Drama watching is very personal I think, what you like and what you don't like. Hopefully it will be enjoyable for you too.
Shosuke Tanihara's role in it was not very important actually... The kids are the main attraction here, I feel.

I also think he is an under rated actor. LOVED him in love shuffle. but he tend to be type casted alot because he is kind of veeeeeeeeeeeeery HOT.
to be honest, i noticed him in yama onna kabe onna . i just have a thing for men who have deep voice (specially when they look hot at same time too ) and i am trying to watch everything he has done so far. _________________

For a long time I didn't really like him. He was always playing smary characters and you wanted to put a cigarette out in his face. But all that changed with Mop Girl he was real likable and in Love Shuffle very good as well.
