Yeah, that was the one thing that bugged me... she was clearly a nice girl, so why did she put up with that dropkick for so long?
It's the maternal instinct that comes out. You see a guy who can't help himself, so you try to help him. Usually occurs when you have feelings for the guy, or have a history with him.
What's great is that you see Yui's character getting annoyed with him, and she even "lectures" and lashes out in a way that makes him feel useless (we don't see these scenes, just hear about them when she tells her girlfriend), so she's aware that he's no good... but that instinct is still there, so she's still helping. _________________

I think she described the good point of their relationship early on to Champy. Unlike most relationship depicted (in Japan) where the female is dependent/subservient to her male partner in some way, in their relationship, they are free to do what they like with little interference and pressure from each other. It's hard to imagine a normal, conventional salaryman being ok with his girlfriend/wife running off to act and do part-time most of the time. And I think they would have shared some common interests and understanding too, both of them in creative professions... And he is her friend too, she wouldn't be nearly as likeable a character if she deserted him just because he is "no good". I imagine writers in general inevitably have their down time, so even though I didn't like him at first, I can sympathize with his plight.

Good observation... Guess it's easy when you're on the outside looking in, but that's always the case when watching a drama, ne?
LOL! Actually, I would have been done today, except my sister wanted to re-watch Wedding Planner again. So we started watching it and got through to epi 10 before deciding we needed a break.
I'll prolly finish Muri na Renai either tonight, or tomorrow. _________________
