They might be doing that every day. I know they showed episode 1 of Partners Thursday @ 9pm and then repeated it Friday at 5pm.

Didn't know where else to put this. If you go to NHK's website, http://www.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/ they do an online broadcast of the same thing we see on channel 18. Check the TV schedule, it seems like they always have something interesting, especially Japan On Site

Yeah, it's a really good site: I have it bookmarked at work and at home. Victory! Peace!

I've got the rabbit ears hooked to one Digital DVDr and the cable to my other recorders and TV. The rabbit ear recorder is there for the express purpose of recording the amazingly sharp uninterrupted signals I get from 18.2 on the assumption there will be something worth recording.

Amazing that as of now, everything of interest to me from 18.2 is old hat. Already got it from downloads or trades. Could not care less about the taiga and of all the asadoras they could have picked they must have gone out of their way to get the most borring one in the lot. Now they add insult to injury by announcing Love shuffle..... Grumble

I think that was true even before the switchover to digital... Just about everything online is ahead of the curve when it comes to TV.

KSCI Digital 18.2 needs to dig up more material to broadcast: they're replaying the anime The Third for the third time... Sweat

And the movies they've been broadcasting midday during the week and weekend are multi-retreads as well... Shake Head

As I have been telling everyone that is interested.....send UTB Hollywood e-mails. It's the only way that they are going to learn what their 'market' really is. I love what they've done so far but there is a lot of room for improvement. I especially want MORE anime and also music. There are no music programs at all.

And the movies as well... Sweat

so much for emails. I sent this last week and got this reply:

Subject: RE: Kohakou Uta Gassen
To: <[email protected]>

Dear Mr. Moratz,

Thank you for your message and for watching KSCI programming. We appreciate your comments.

It is unfortunate that Time Warner Cable has not chosen to carry 18.2. We do know that viewers would have much stronger reception in this case.

All 18.2 programming actually goes through United Television Broadcast. This company has chosen to air on Digital Television rather than air on our main channel 18, and there is little we can do about their decision. However, I speak with viewers often that receive the digital signal.

I understand there have been reception issues in certain parts of Monterrey park. However, most areas can receive the signal over the air. I myself have a digital tuner and had to spend about 30 minutes adjusting the antenna. It can be frustrating, but in the end I was able to receive all digital channels quite clearly.

Another option is to purchase a larger antenna and to loft it on your rooftop. In areas where reception is spotty, getting your antenna above the first storey buildings will certainly improve your reception.

I certainly hope one of these suggestions will work for you. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.

Thank you for watching LA 18,

Best,

Dear Sir,

As you probably know, ch 18.2 is not available with Time Warner Cable in
the San Fernando Valley. Only 18.1 is broadcast on 79.5 digital.
So we are deprived of seeing your really good programs, dramas and
asadoras. I am able to pick those channels up on my rabbit ears but
only with much fragmentation on my Digital TV tuner.
I implore you to please broadcast the Kohakou Uta Gassen on ch 18.1 so that
more than just a small minority of viewers will be
able to see this annual pageant. You are severely restricting the viewing
of the better programs to the majority of viewers by
using ch 18.2 which is not available on TWC digital or analog. Even with
rabbit ears antennas, these channels are hopelessly blocked
in the majority of the Los Angeles area by the tall buildings.
I hope you will rectify this problem soon.

Thank You,

Ralph Moratz

Finally went to your link. It tricked me into installing JIBTV. But as of now I kind of like it. Watching Tokyo Eye now with Newsline next. I checked it against ch18.1 and .2 and there is not match. So this will be another option to watch.

Hi, Ralph. You can't write to KSCI for issues about 18.2 programming. Since the conversion, secondary companies are wholly responsible for their own programming. In the case of 18.2, it is UTB Hollywood. Programming issues are made by them. You may not receive a responce from them (I rarely have received a response) but it doesn't hurt to e-mail them your opinion.

http://www.utbhollywood.com/en/

As for the anime, it IS frustrating. When you consider what has happened, however, you can't knock them either. Prior to the conversion they only aired about 6 hours of programming on weekend nights and some morning shows on weekdays. Now they are literally doing 24 hours a day. I want a LOT more but what I am getting is fine at this point in time. Furthermore, it is FREE!!! Those cable Japanese stations are like $40 or $50 a month. Channel 18.2 is quite a bargain considering!

Yup.

I mean how many times can a person watch The Third (which I liked) or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (bleh)...
