Trying to find a movie

A long time ago I saw this japanese movie.
The intro of the movie was when 2 guys meet at an airport (the main char is "famous") and the other tells him he expected him to be female cause he's using a female name. Then the main character starts talking about how it all happened. He met this crazy girl and started hanging out a lot. He was a photographer and showed her his dream. She learned how to use the camera from him and they both ended a contest which she won. He gets jealous and she moves to the States. Some time later he gets a letter from her, but the letter is not in her handwriting so he travels to the States and tries to find out what happened to her. (I could tell the rest of the story but I wouldn't want to ruin the ending for the people reading this).

Not at all. All I know is the story.

Tada kimi wo aishiteru, reminded me of it so I tried to find it again.
I saw it before I could recognise any japanese actors I do remember seeing Ichi the killer around that time too though.

Easy to see the confusion between the two. To make matters worse, the song from the movie Tada kimi wo aishiteru is Renai shashin by Otsuka Ai, which contains the line "Tada kimi wo aishiteru"
