As mentioned in the KTSF thread, it doesn't appear that it will be aired this year in the SF Bay Area. I swear they aired it in 1995 or 1996, so it will break at least a 13 year tradition. Puppy Dog Eyes

Yukie looked great in her kimono! w00t!

And it cracked me up when Kimura asked Susan Boyle in english, "How do you like Japan?" and the interpreter started to repeat it to her. hehe

Yukie DID look good. This was the first year I watched the whole show. I enjoyed it, better than any US new year program...

I have checked with D-addicts but cannot find where GROINK may have the Kouhaku programme. It says no torrent found.

Is it there please and if you are seeding I would like to get it.

I thought Kimura was great with his tribute to MJ. He was pretty good with the dancing and moonwalk although I have seen him do a better moon walk. they did a marvellous job I thought with all the MJ songs.

Its probably too early to find the torrent. Most of the time its in 2 files and they're quite large cause it covers almost 5 hours! Maybe in a couple of days it will be out?

I don't groink will ever upload anything online again because of all the people that upped the dramas and things he capped on streaming sites.

Yes I know about the situation that upset Groink. However he did say something about seeding this. I will just wait and see what happens.

It was a good night I think despite the grumbles. I think SMAP did very well and so did Susan Boyle.

thanks for response.

60th Kohaku Uta Gassen ratings

The viewership ratings for the 60th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, which took place on December 31, were announced on Saturday. This year, the show's first half achieved 37.1% (Kanto region), while the second half got 40.8%.

Compared to the previous year, the first half was up 1.4%, and marked the highest rating since 2002 (also 37.1%). However, the second half was down 1.3%. Despite being the fourth-worst rating in Kohaku history, it still managed to achieve above 40%.

This time's contest featured a surprise appearance by singer Eikichi Yazawa, a guest performance by Susan Boyle, a special Michael Jackson tribute by SMAP, and a children's corner, among other highlights. Ayumi Hamasaki and EXILE started things off, while DREAMS COME TRUE and Saburo Kitajima closed out the night.

In the end, the battle was won by the White Team, giving the men their fifth consecutive victory. They picked up more than 60% of the 561,755 votes.

Arashi, Nao Matsushita to host 61st Kohaku Uta Gassen

On Wednesday, NHK announced the hosts of the 61st Kohaku Uta Gassen. The popular group Arashi will be in charge of the White Team, while actress and pianist Nao Matsushita will be in charge of the Red Team. This is the first time for either of them to serve as a Kohaku host.

Arashi did their first performance at Kohaku just last year. Now, they have become the first group ever to host the show. The announcement was even more special as it was made on November 3, the 11th anniversary of Arashi's CD debut. The group will be complemented by Matsushita, who skyrocketed in popularity this year thanks to NHK's morning drama series "Gegege no Nyoubou."

This year's Kohaku will start 15 minutes later than last year, at 7:30pm on December 31, though it will end at the usual time of 11:45pm.

BIG BANG, KARA invited to Kohaku

According to the Sports Nippon newspaper, Korean groups BIG BANG and KARA will be making their first appearances in the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen. The last Korean artists to perform on opposite teams at Kohaku were Lee Jung Hyun and RYU in 2004, but BIG BANG and KARA will be the first groups ever to do so.

BIG BANG, who made their debut in Japan last year, will be participating as an ordinary member of the White Team, rather than as part of a special project. They are planning to arrive in Japan on December 26 and stay until the new year. This means that they will be absent for NHK's annual press conference introducing the first-time Kohaku participants, but they have already recorded a video message for the event.

KARA debuted in Japan just this year. They will be part of the Red Team, but details about their participation are not yet known.

^ So it's finally official? The rumors were strong regarding KARA's and SNSD's participation. But I'm surprised DBSK/Tohoshinki never participated, weren't they big in Japan?
