I smoked for 6 years.... I quit in 1998. Worst thing you can ever do is start.

it changes your life, your priorities, and destroys your body slowly.

lifestyle diseases will be the top killer of us humans and so many are preventable.

despite all the warning on cigarettes and everyone noes its bad for them, still so many pple smoke. its a vice tat is not so easily rid of. Its amazing how many pple tink its the epitome of cool to smoke a fag. Stress is just an excuse. a history of Family violence is oso an excuse for murderers and violent criminals. we dun accept tat, stress as an excuse is even less acceptable.

ideally, we wld watch our weight to prevent obesity, watch our sodium intake to prevent increased risk of hypertension, watch our diet to prevent hypercholesterolemia, do aerobic exercise to build up collateral circulation and keep our skeletal musculature strong and healthy.

all these are ideals. i dun watch my diet much, hardly exercise, im putting on quite a lot of weight.
the 1 ting i can do is not to smoke. its easy to do so when u dun have peers who smoke, and even when they did, i always tot it was a repulsive habit. Smoking is the single highest risk factor for many many of the top killer diseases.
Its heartening to see so many who have quit and are trying to control ur habits.
If u have the will to quit, u might want to see ur family doctor or physician to come out with a plan of quitting. Nicotine replacement may be required to help u quit Smile

oh my fault... I didn't answer the question.

I used to smoke Camel Filters. smooth taste and less harsh on the throat than most full filtered cigarettes.

Phillip Morris Super Lights
Marlboro Lights
and occasionally some Mild Sevens.

I'd like to quit though. It's just like what Ushiroyubi said that's why.

LOL, we need to add up how much we spend on cigs annually and see if that makes us quit hehe I have no will power, so I probably won't be quitting this year Sweat For me it would be a matter of cutting down gradually. I can't go cold turkey....I just can't. Plus I live alone, so I have little motivation...yeah, I'm pathetic.

Any smokers here have relatives that don't know you smoke? I do....it's really hard to hide and not smoke or mention it when you are around them. Other than 2 relatives, all my other relatives smoke. Beaten

you are more likely to die from the food you eat than a cig
thats right, food related heart problems is still the number one killer

i believe in living like accelerated. its better to live and die than to never live at all.

LOL, I've been taking a nutrition class. Yep, I'm now scared to eat ANYTHING. I did an analysis on my diet for my final project. I don't even eat much. I don't eat even 3 meals a day. Yet so many nutrients were through the roof, in a bad way. Even too many vitamins are toxic in large amounts. But smoking does contribute to heart disease, as well as diet. (yeah, I really need to quit...but am not ready)

people are so interested in living a long life they forget about quality
i enjoy smoking, so i smoke
how do you know you are alive if you dont take risks?
the greater the risk, the more alive you feel.
for people who have never smoked, they really cant comment on this because they have only felt one side of the argument, the non smoker side. i spent most my life not smoking so i can accuratley see both points of the argument.

That's convoluted thinking. Every person who has this kind of habit/addiction uses that "better to live" line as their excuse...

Not *every* person, but a lot. As for me, it's something that I do, don't know why I do, know I shouldn't do, but am not stopping yet because I'm weak. Beaten I don't really see it as that glamourous like "living life to its fullest" or anything. I don't look into it that deeply...

Gomen. Hasty generalization there. Shoulda said "most people." Smile

It's just the rationalization for one's habit, IMO.

Yeah, me too. I started at 12 and then the rest is history. Can't quit now. Well, actually don't have the will power to do so yet.
Smoking is dumb.
And I'm a dumbass for doing it. Beaten

Nope. Probably never will. I'd like to quit on my own efforts rather than rely on something that's gonna further poison my body.
