Yeah I think it has niche appeal at best...moreover, I dunno if everybody wants to look like a tard wearing some gimpy looking glasses just so that piece of sizzling bacon on screen jumps out at you so you can pretend to bite it.

Yup, those idiotic glasses are unavoidable... No thanks.

Yeah, all the talk about 3D, reminds me of when cereal boxes game with those 3D 'glasses' to complete the maze on the back of the box.

LOL, I remember those. Mr Green

3D is a gimmick... I'm more interested in that 21:9 HDTV... Though it's likely out of my league... And I just bought an HDTV. Beaten

Haha. Nice. That's definitely step back in time.

Haha. My daughter came back from the DVD shop with some rentals a few weeks ago, including "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in 3D - but without the 3D glasses. It looked like crap Bleah She actually had some of the grey 3D glasses a la Avatar 3D, but this movie required the red/blue ones Sad

Samsung's LED LCD HDTV Lineup: The 9000 Does 3D and Has a Video-Previewing Touch Remote

Samsung's LED LCD televisions are here and the flagship 9000 is a doozy. It's the only one they're calling "ultra thin", has 3D support in late 2010 and a touch remote that shows you content from other video sources!

The thinness (it's as skinny as a pencil) is achieved by shoving lots of guts into the pedestal, which doubles as a wall mount. The set can convert 2D content into 3D, although I'm sure of dubious quality. The remote looks rather Apple-ish in UI, but it can show you, as I said before, content from other sources, like live TV while watching a Blu-ray on the big screen. It has 240Hz tech, which we've never noticed as important in image quality, but it's there (needed for 3D). No word on sizes or prices, yet. There's Samsung app support, but platforms like these are never really well supported. The frame is very shiny.

^ The remote looks like an iPhone. Beaten

Thin is neat, but I don't get why it's such a big deal compared to ones that are 3"-5" thick... Either way, it beats a 20"-deep tube TV by a mile, ne?

It's purely spec-manship.

Yeah the remote totally does...yeah thin is cool but it's getting crazy now....pretty soon your going to get a paper cut every time you touch the dayem thing. Personally I'd use the leading edge to slice my garlic cloves for cooking.

Go with the Fisher Price - My first Receiver. It's Dolby 7.1, DTS, and THX-certified. 7 HDMI inputs, and a one input for kite string.

Just got back from Pacific Sales, just to get a feel for the prices... I'll head off to Fry's, Ken Crane's, and (gulp) Best Buy to comparison shop.

I know I can get a better price online, but I'm leery about getting damaged goods and having to return the damn thing. bleh
