I would think Sony, Panny, Pioneer, etc. doesn't sell stuff that is remote hackable: it might require a firmware/hardware modification.

The Philips DVD players are region free remote hackable (I have one) and they all automatically convert to PAL/NTSC.

As I said earlier, the likelihood of a Sony or other major brand being hackable in the first place is close to nil.
And the streaming nowadays can be accomplished by a third-party product (WD, Seagate, and Patriot come to mind) and a number of HDTVs.
