tinyamaki,

I think your sisters are right. this drama is so BIG. Lots of scenery and lots of historical buildings. The story is based on truth, although it is definitely ramped up as far as conversations are concerned. The basic details are apparently quite real and the characters all existed. I thought that the role BIDAM was legendary, but it seems he was a real man. I reallly didn't care, because Kim Nam Gil is perfect as a man or a legend and without him I might have stopped watching some of the episodes. He is overflowing with energy and comes right out of the screen in some scenes because he is such a fine actor. The costumes are most impressive although I must say that BIDAM was very effective upon his first entrance when he was a lowly acolyte in drab gear.
I guess you can tell...I rather liked Kim Nam Gil.

re Queen drama. It's worth watching for the actress who plays MISIL. she really knows how to chew up the scenery. There were times she reminded me of Bette Davis. So evil.. It's a dramatic role but she was also very funny in her approach. I think she must have enjoyed this role.

If you liked Lee Dong Wook in My Girl...you should watch him again in
'L Dolce Vita'. I would say this is his most powerful role so far and the whole drama is either going to grip you by the throat or you will hate it completely. The cast is wonderful and the story is strictly dramatic. It is a romance that could happen up to a point but then.... Full of suspense.

Try it .. you might like it. I loved it.

totally mesmerized, madly in love, sanely obsessed with Chuno at the moment. it just gets better and better by each ep. as avid jdrama fan i never thought that i would find any kdrama any good let alone great. but Chuno ( and before that You're Bautiful, Hong Gil Dong and Beethoven Virus) proved me SOOO wrong.
everything about this drama is just prefect. from actors, storylines, characters, fight scenes, suspence... is just superb. and its OST, it must be one of the best OSTs out there. its all i have been listening to these days. when there is Chuno, i don't feel like watching anything else (at the moment Sweat )

Back on my Kdrama affliction. 1% of anything, ep 4. Again Wyn chan you just know exactly what I like. You are my official drama agent.

I guess for the foreseable future I will alternate 1 for 1 between J and K dramas. So far the Kdramas as selected by Wyn chan are superb. I think the lilt in the Korean gals voice is incredibly sexy though I have no idea what they are really saying since the subs are usually the interpreters whim. Naughty

Started watching Pasta. Gong Hyo Jin & Lee Sun Gyun are great together. When they are on screen I'm happy, but when they're not I feel like fast forwarding. The main couple really carry this show, many of the other characters are just pointless.

I have become enslaved by PASTA or at least by the angry chef. He is known as
"The Voice,"
from previous dramas and he really has something special and it is certainly not a beautiful face. It is just his total personality and his ability to give a role reality. And then..he smiles and you are lost. He is totally masculine and take charge guy. You just know you would be taken care of with much affection. Feel good forever.
I like the restaurant setting and I also love to watch the panning of the pasta and the plating of the dishes they make.

I do like a few of the other members of the cast. I rather think they are hoping that one of the cooks from Italy will turn out to be a hit a la 'Japanese' Waffle Man' in Coffee Prince. Certainly the sister of the deceitful girl cook has fallen for him.

Re PASTA - I'm not a big fan of The Voice, Peggy (watching COFFEE PRINCE I was all Gong Yoo, baby Nut), but j'adore Gong Hyo-jin, and I did hear their chemistry in this drama is the only great thing about it, so mebbe I'll give this a try. Wink

Just finished MBC's RETURN OF ILJIMAE. Mmmm, Jung Il-woo is soooooo exquisite, lol. Lovely cinematography, too. I've just started on ILJIMAE, the SBS version. Not a big Lee Jun-ki fan, but I'm curious how these two dramas give their own unique spin on the Iljimae folktale. Still, my favorite sageuk hero would have to be Kang Ji-hwan's Hong Gil Dong, bar none. Applaud

Partner like Pasta is a show where the main couple is the only noteworthy thing. Kim Hyun Joo & Lee Dong Wook were cute together, but everything else was rather boring for me.

Partners was OK for most of the episodes. However, I would not put it in the same category as Pasta.

There is more chemistry between the two leads in Pasta for one thing. It is not all sweetness and light but they have something that stretches out between them and does not let go. It is almost against their will and choice but the link is made and is not broken.
I like all the rest of the cast. They all fit in that kitchen very well. the sous chef is a fine actor and he can play almost any role with the right amount of intent. He looks very moody here but in fact he is a funny guy and he is playing against his own personality. I like the chefs who trained in Italy. They are Korean but have that little layer of know how that puts them over the local lads in the kitchen. I really have fallen for the real CEO who takes over finally. Alex Chu... Canadian Korean. Is such a singer...Lovely way with a song. Was delighted to find he is the main singer with Clazzique. His first acting job and I think he does well.

The sister of the 'bad' girl chef...she is a favourite of mine. I like her style and she plays a good femme fatale trying to trap the younger chef who is really going to be a new 'idol..hero..something' in dramas in the future. He cooks up a storm in her heart for sure.
The only character that means nothing to me is the brother of the leading lady. He is certainly just ''filler' for the sake of the plot here and there.

What can I say E.G. I like this drama very much. The Voice?? Not that impressed in Coffee Prince just because of Gong Yu, who was, and is the sexy lad with impatient urges. (I bet in real liife also.)
Did not like Triple as a drama. Waste of good actors. Dopey story and dopier females.

Got to go.

Down to the last 2 episodes of 1% Of Anything. There is always a sense of loss when I approach the end of a really good romantic comedy. By then I have become a member of the main character's family and this is like leaving home.... is this an oxymoron then, since this is such a feel good drama - why would I be sad.... Doh!

Thanks Wyn chan for bringing a new love into my life.... Kim Jung Hwa.
Admitedly not as gorgeous as I am accustomed to with the likes of Sung Yuri and Kuninaka Ryoko. But Kim simply overflows with good wholesome charm and cannot be relegated to the nameless easily forgotten legions.
w00t! w00t! w00t!

I will have to find more dramas with this lovely person. Of course before you recommend any, I only watch HAPPY dramas without beloved stars dying at the end type nonsense. U Suck

This is a very solid 9/10. Applaud

Did I send you Snow White? Kim Jung Hwa is the lead in that as well. Another romantic comedy, and I preferred her much more in Snow White. I didn't send it, let me know and I'll send it over ASAP!

I don't have Snow white Shameful Cry .
I've looked at her filmography and have added that drama to my must see list.

I started My Girl which you sent me also. Episode 2 now and so far so good, or rather very good. I'm still having withdrawal pains from 1%.
I will most likely have to watch it again after I finish My Girl.

!% ending was quite unusual.

Episode 4 - My Girl. Another wonderful Kdrama that grows on you as it progresses. It's fun to see the same grandpa from 1% Of Anything playing the same type of role in My Girl. He's a great actor in this kind of role. Well, I haven't seen him in anything else yet so he may just be a great actor. Mr Green
Here's the deal.. Since I'm not ready to part company with 1% I will start to watch it again at the spa on the elliptical machine and give Mai-K a rest. Then for 1 hour (or 2 (or 3)) I'll watch My Girl at home during my Asian drama watching time.... That's pretty much all the time except of course that I have to have my daily Young And Restless fill.

Ralph, I'm glad you're liking My Girl (so far), it was one of my fave dramas of 2006 (and one of my fave K-rom-coms of all time). It's from the same writers of Fantasy Couple and *ehem* Hong Gil Dong, featuring *ehem* Sung Yu-ri (yes, okay, I know you don't want to watch this because there's a *possibility* of a not-so-happy ending, so I won't foist this drama on you... too much Beaten).

And you're right about Gong-chan's grandpa (Byun Hee-bong). I've seen him in other dramas and films and he's a very versatile actor. (He's in the monsterrrific K-movie I'm currently watching, The Host. Such a fun ride! w00t!)

In deference to Sung Yuri I WILL watch Hong Gil Dong regardless of the evil writer's sadistic possiblitlies. Nut

I could not mention grandpa's name (which you did thankfully) because right now except for Sung Yuri, all Korean names sound alike to me. I'm still at the stage of deciding where and how their first names begin. I hope to see Byun Hee-bong in more dramas. What a treat it would be if he were paired with Sung Yuri by some insightful far-seeing producer.

As for My Girl, now I can understand how you and others would find this such a grand drama. I'm getting to the point also of putting it on my re-watch shelf along with Churasan. No higher compliment could I pay.
Dancing
Naturally, the reason it's so well liked is because deep down inside people really want to watch a happy easy to go along with comedy romance rather then be left despondent by an unnecessary gratuitous death. Byun Hee-bong is like the whipped cream on a delicious chocolate cake.... his beaming elf like smile is completely captivating.
