yeah, the kanji on the side ���y is the name of the actress who plays eita's girlfriend.
i thought that was juri before i read the text, though.

I just watched the first episode. I liked it, but I have to say so far the acting is much stronger than the writing. The three supporting actors were good, but I liked Juri and Eita's performance so best. Haru character's especially could have turned into a very flat, blah character, but with an extra movement of the eye or a turn of the head, Juri somehow managed to convince me that there's more depth to this girl than first appears. I did notice the vestiges of Nodame earlier on in the episode, and I have to say I wasn't too pleased with that. It's okay in certain contexts, maybe later in the show when we've already gotten a firm grasp of Sunao ni Narenakute's Haru, but this early on the show, it's a distraction for the viewers. We trying to connect to Haru, not Nodame again. I don't think Juri was doing it consciously though.

Oh, one thing I do have to applaud Jejung for is his portrayal of um, Doctor's (forgot his character's real name) blossoming crush on Haru. The lingering glances were enough to show the viewer that Doctor's got some particular interest in Haru, but it's not so overt that you'd wonder why the other characters haven't noticed as well.

Overall, I'd say I'm sticking with this drama, but for the moment, it's only riding off Juri and Eita's acting prowess. The drama itself seems like its trying to be too hip and the swipe-screen transitions kind of annoy me. Somehow I'm already sick of the constant twitter-twitter.

I think that's more of the viewers issue than Juri-chan's: the Nodame character is so ingrained in our minds (and hearts? ) that we're always going to "see" that character in Juri-chan's acting unless she radically changes her look and demeanor entirely, like in Last Friends.

LOL, everyone seems fixated on those transitions and the product placement, but they're not a distraction to me one bit... Guess I'm more focused on the story/characters than the extraneous stuff.

I'm a big fan of Jae Joong. And he's my top Korean crush.
even pre-ordered his AnAn April issue but I think he sucked on his character here. Though I haven't watched his Heaven's Postman and Vacation Korean dramas. He seemed to be unsure of what he's going to do on some point.

I agree... I can't really bring myself to care about the other characters, although I know it's only the first episode and things will (hopefully) develop.

For example, when "Linda" was being slobbered on by his boss, I didn't feel as sorry for him as I probably should have... That actor is kind of wooden, IMO.

And yes, the show is trying so hard to be cool that it's... not very. I find the screen transitions a bit distracting, if not annoying.

Still, I'm going to keep watching! I love Ueno Juri and Eita is adorabe as ever, unfortunate haircut/ears notwithstanding.
