Okay, I just finished watching Episode 3... Without subs.

From what I've seen up to this point,

I think the person trying to commit suicide in the opening of Episode 1 is Kiriko... Maybe it's another red herring by the writer, but Kiriko is way screwed up: she's selfish, manipulative, and is willing to injure herself for the attention... Even more so than Peach. Speaking of her, why the hell is she drinking if she's pregnant? That's irresponsible... And character still has no depth... What is the writer doing? Surprise, surprise, I was sorta happy for Doctor: he finally got some props from his slave-driver boss... It's probably short-lived though: those kind of bosses are one of those "What have you done for me lately?" ones... Poor Haru: she's a just naive pawn in the game with Nakaji (still a knucklehead) and Kiriko. Linda: No inkling of him being gay in this episode... And now he has ED, apparently? Seems like he's got a whole host of sexual issues... Got a sinking feeling about that Haru-obsessed student... Not liking this subplot one bit.

It is like some kind of whodunit suspense drama, when the criminal is found the story moves on and a new mystery presents itself.
Here we have a "why did he/she do that?" drama. Once you are told their reasoning the plot quickly throws another "WTF?" scene at you.

Take Peach for example. In the 3rd episode she was the most happy/normal person of all. But she recovers from a freaking suicide attempt, for god's sake! On top of that she is pregnant and keeps it a secret (for what ever reason). In short, she is not a real character, she is just an arbitrary plot device to create more "WTF?" moments for the viewer.

Given that this is written by a famous TV author and played by a top cast this drama leaves a lot to be desired...

Yup, she's probably the least developed character of them all.

I've only seen up to episode 2 but I completely agree with what the last few posters have been saying. I am particularly disappointed with the writing because Kitagawa Eriko just came off of "Halfway," a 2009 seishun eiga with a simple plot made memorable by the character development. What's happening with Sunao ni Narenakute?!

I also have to say that although I like the bgm for the drama so far, so much of the music seems misused to the point that its jarring. In particular I'm thinking of the scene in episode 2 where

Peach is talking to Linda and out of the blue says, "Let's have sex." The music playing in the background seemed like it was pushing for me to see Peach as a pitiable character, someone to sympathize with. Uh no. She's flat and neurotic. This isn't challenging me to rethink sight and sound, it's just bad.

Well, I thought Juri looked really pretty in episode two at least...

Hmm, Kitagawa's still doing OK with movies, but she seems to have lost her touch with dramas, ever since, you know, the very lame Tatta Hitotsu no Koi, with Kamenashi.

I think its a very entertaining drama. I see more draggy dramas and slow moving ones than a fast paced ones like this so its a good change kind of

Heh, she probably got too many convoluted ideas to squeeze into an 11-episode series. Simpler might be better for her these days.

i've seen orange days, tatta hitotsu no koi, and beautiful life, but they're not THAT great
she's really overrated, in my opinion...

Hehe, well...to be honest...I've never watched any of Kitagawa Eriko's dramas! I only watched the movie "Halfway," which she co-wrote and directed (directorial debut!). And I really, really, really liked it. So yeah, I guess I might be forming my opinion of her prematurely, but Halfway really stuck to me. So I was expecting more from Sunao ni Narenakute....

Ah well, got a ways to go till the end. Get better Hard to Say I Love You

I haven't seen enough of her work to say she's overrated, but I have seen Orange Days and I thought it was good, but not great.
