Done. Full House. I had a lot of trouble with Rain. His childish antics would have fared better in a HYD type of drama. Finally in the last 2 episodes he was somewhat reconstituted. It was troublesome that I could not find any chemistry between him and Song Hye Gyo.
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

Except for that I thouroughly enjoyed the comedic aspects BUT most of all the eye candy as supplied by Song Hye Gyo and Han Eun Jung kept me staring with delight. I must see these gorgeous idols again .... Mr Green
I could not decide which was more gorgeous...
Wyn chan, how do you know my weaknesses so well? Bow
You're making me unfaithful to Sung Yuri. Naughty

The plot was ridiculous, accompanied by some terrible acting. I'm especially looking at you Kim Hyun Joong. I guess girls enjoyed looking at the pretty boys.

Sorry reacting so late but that's great Mr Green ! It'll be so much fun, so much more chaotic than Japan.

O! I'll have to see if I have that one!

I think the draw, and understandably saw, is all the eye-candy. And the storyline in the beginning is actually decent (because it's exactly like the Japanese version). It gets really redundant and lame after the halfway mark.

Wyn chan, I got your package... I think I mentioned it in some long buried post. lol.
I'm about halfway thru Snow White now. I'm not happy with the nerd look of Kim Jung Hwa. But I'm sure there will be a chrysalis moment when she emerges as the beauty that I have grown to love. Sweat

That aside, this is another delightful comedy that I am enjoying with gusto.

I'm sure you realize that Lee Wan was the evil brother in Swallow The Sun. A remarkable change in appearance and speech.... exellent actor this guy. Applaud

Love your sig of Song Hye Kyo who is in my growing list of Korean favs. In love
I thought only Sung Yuri was eligible for my list from Korea.... was I ever wrong.

She does have a bit of a makeover, not to worry. lol

I saw Snow White a long time ago, and when I was watching Swallow the Sun, my sister had to point out that it was him. I was so shocked! What a physical change indeed. I must say, I MUCH prefer him in Snow White. Wink

I've been watch Birth of a Billionaire. A romantic comedy about a poor boy convinced that he is the illegitimate son of a rich man. And in his quest to find his Father, he gets entangled with a whole slew of rich people. True love and wackiness ensue.

The best thing about the series (IMO) is the female lead, Lee Bo-Young. I will be on the lookout for her in other series and movies from now on.

Fortunately for me, she's one of the leads in Harvest Villa (a show I wanted to watch anyway) and the subbing team is about half way through that one.

Geezer,

Sounds like my kind of story. I will check it out and Lee Bo-Young looks like my kind of girl too. hehe

Wyn chan, BTW I sent you Judgment At Nuremberg. Don't know if you still watch anything other than Asian dramas.

Back to "Becoming a Billionaire", (aka "The Birth of the Rich")

http://wiki.d-addicts.com/The_Birth_of_the_Rich

I'm coming toward the end now... still deeply in love with Lee Bo-Young... but I have to say, Lee Si Young as the wealthy, spoiled, willful, loud, and wonderfully dumb Boo Tae Hee is absolutely stealing the show.

Boo Tae Hee is the comic-relief "bad girl" in the series, and for Boo Tae Hee there simply are no boundaries. I get the feeling that she's just turned herself into a major star.

To my surprise I really enjoyed TBOTR, a rare case where the extension didn't really hurt the show. When I first read the synopsis I thought the show could be boring, but it turned into the wild card of the season for me. Victory! Peace!

I agree with the comment of Lee Si Young, her character could have easily been annoying (i.e., "Ma Hye Ri" in Prosecutor Princess). But LSY turned it into a character that was simply fun to watch.

ocha4ever

Korean TV often makes versions of successful Japanese TV shows. Japan often makes versions of successful Korean TV shows.

In this case, both are TV versions of an American movie called "As Good As It Gets."

And yes, I thought the Korean version was very good.

How do they do it? I expect they pay for the idea much the same way American TV networks pay British writers and producers when they make an American version of a British show.

The only K-drama adapted from a J-drama which I like is White Tower. Kim Myung Min and Lee Sun Gyun were pretty good in their acting. Definitely better than the TWN version of it.

In any case, if you don't like sappy Korean plots, Kim's dramas like Beethoven Virus(2008). His are the only dramas I enjoy and he's a fantastic actor too. Wink

Currently watching Mr. Goodbye. There is so much going on that it's zipping by quickly. My sister ruined the ending for me, which sucks. I hope they pull it off well, though.

I'm not really blown away by the leads, although it does have Jo Dong Hyuk, whom I have adored since Snow in August. Smitten

Glad I could help, ocha4ever

Ifve run into two disappointing shows in a row.

1) Prosecutor Princess

http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Prosecutor_Princess

I started watching this show mostly because Kim So Yeon is the lead. I thought she was terrific (okay, mostly I thought she was gorgeous) in both gGourmeth and gIRISh so I figured this would be a no-brainer. But the show is poorly written, and So Yeon is woefully miscast as the ditzy (but brilliant) rich girl. (Kim Jung Hwa had a hit with this sort of character in gWhen Itfs At Nighth but So Yeon just isnft making it work for me.)

(2) Get Karl Oh Soo Jung

http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Get_Karl!_Oh_Soo_Jung

Again, I grabbed this one because I liked the people involved. Sung Dong Ii was fabulous in gSlave Huntersh and Oh ji Ho was a pretty good leading man in gSlave Huntersh. And boyc Uhm Jung Hwa was wonderful as the Doctor in gThe Korean Man Who Can't Get Marriedh.

But here, I think Uhm Jung Hwa is an even a worse casting choice than So Yeon was in hP.P.h

Ifm giving up on both of them before I start disliking two of my favorite actresses.

Finished Snow White.

There were problems for me. Because a friend on another forum was watching Swallow The Sun, I got sucked into watching portions of STS also...can't resist watching it at the slightest provocation Crazy and even when I don't have a cause... it is so perversely addicting I really don't need an excuse to watch a few minutes. Dancing

The point is that it caused me to compare Lee Wan's STS character to his Snow White character and never being able to reconcile the two roles. Of course that is the way it should be and merely reflects what a great actor this young man has become. Yet, it kept me from seeing him as the romantic lead...

Then my gorgeous Kim Jung Hwa dressed as a nerd. What an outrage. U Suck
Fortunately she emerged into her true beauty at some point. In love

Another problem, shades of American soaps, the endless contrivance of having an about to make an important point interrupted by the amazingly sudden appearance of the opposition character. Once or twice, OK. But in almost every episode? Were the writers so inept they could not just add a subplot to fill in the required 16 episodes?

In summation, thanks to Kim Jung Hwa despite all the flaws I enjoyed watching her (even as a nerd) and am grateful to Wyn chan again for pointing me to this drama. Wyn chan is the official drama referree. Nut

Can't rate this as it would not be a fair rating. However, if you like comedy romance with eye candy for both males and females.... you will enjoy this Kdrama.
