hi! i'm still a bit new to jdrama and i was wondering if you guys could recommend a drama with a funny/crazy male character? someone who makes you laugh! a lot of them seem to be the dark, quietly brooding types, and i'm looking for something different!
Kuitan series or Jiko Keistatsu series comes to mind at the moment.

One more for GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka). I love it, and I watch it all through once a year. Takashi Sorimachi's on top form.
Densha Otoko's lead character is funny (in a nerdy way, but the actor who plays him is definitely up there with the better ones in my book). He also has a pair of brilliant sidekicks. If you're into the Japanese otaku scene, there's a lot to love, and if like me you're not, it'll teach you a thing or two about it. In fact, it barely has any dark/broody types at all. I also watch this drama once a year. I can't get enough of it.
Mr. Brain stars that Kimura Takuya guy who I really think is one of the better Japanese actors out there, based on the dramas and films I've seen so far. He's a kooky Doctor Who type, and the drama itself is like a live-action version of the Brain Training game on DS.
CHANGE is also quite good. It's Kimura Takuya again, and it's interesting because he's neither dark/brooding nor funny/crazy, but is just a general nice guy school teacher who gets talked into running in the elections to become the next prime minister. The whole reason I saw this drama was because I found out the final episode has a 15-minute long Prime Minister speech that is done all in one take with no cuts at all, and I'm glad I did. It blows my mind, and I even put it on recently just to see the speech again. Anyone who can act out something like that gets my thumbs up!
Ok, my turn:
I haven't seen a new drama since Mr. Brain. Are they all still about solving crimes? When I had a quick flick through the up and coming dramas, that's all they seemed to be about!

I agree with Jiko Keistatsu too, I liked that drama so much am downloading season 2 of it, think you'll like it. If you like Hiroshi Abe, he's got quite a few good ones, he doesn't play over the top characters, but still goofy and funny. _________________

Being a big fan of Asian horror, what are some horror dramas you would recommend (or some you wouldn't)? I've already seen (am watching)...)
Korean:
Tale of two sisters
Vengeance trilogy by Chan-wook park (Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, Oldboy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance) -- these are more thriller than horror, but still chilling...
Thirst (also directed by Chan-wook park)
Japanese:
Dark water
Happiness of the Katakuris (silly horror)
Juon - the grudge
I really love tatta hitotsu no koi. Could anyone please recommend me any dramas that gives the similar feeling like tatta hitotsu no koi? or overtime, sunao ni narenakute or any romance that is not so tragedy?
...after suffering myself to death trying to write a thesis...somehow I want some romatic stuff to heal my headache.....(cough....eye candy leads also help )
I've watched:
gokusen
with love
overtime
beach boys
Proposal Daisakusen
hanayori dango
kimi wa petto
antique
Also watching sunao ni narenakute now. Thank you^^

Any recommendations for a drama with a good story (nothing too silly or over the top though)? I don't mind if it's something I already saw before; I just wanted ideas for something to watch. Thanks! _________________
Wow, you have a lot of dramas in your profile.
Some newer once are missing, so here are good stories I have not seen in your list:
Pandora (highly recommended, even won international prizes for the author)
Aishiteru (must-see, best drama of 2009 for me)
Hagetaka (good business theme, you don't see that too often)
Shiroi Haru (the story is not that original, but still nicely done)
Smile (yea, it has idols, but the story is unusual)
Fumo Chitai (a bit dry, somewhat like a taiga drama)
[I created this list with links to the drama page but the system refused to let me post this message because it contained to many links and was considered therefore as spam. I think it is configurated way to restrictive...]

Thank you very much for the recommendations. I really appreciate it. I heard of some of these dramas and I've been wanting to see them. Must find these. _________________
