I'd completely forgotten about the movie, I can't wait for it now!
And bmwracer, those screenies and photos you've put up are making me go mental (I've got a BMW, too. It's my darling)!
I love Ueno Juri, ever since I saw Nodame. Her name alone is enough to make me watch a drama and she hasn't disappointed me yet. I saw that little 'Itsutsu no Kaban' one which I thought was brilliant, and I thought her role as Ruka in Last Friends was perfection. I might check out this Sunao ni Narenakute one, too...
^ Yay! Another fan!
Welcome and enjoy your time here... And please read the Posting Guidelines as well.
Just saw the film. I watched it downstairs on the big telly with the big speakers and I loved it!
The sneak peek at part 2 looks groovy, and I hope it's in super widescreen as it makes it look much more cinematic. I wonder when it's coming out... _________________
Just finished watching the broadcast version of Movie 1 with subs...
It's CLEARLY obvious that all the Stresemann narrative was added in for the TV broadcast and it really takes away from the movie itself, IMHO. My guess is that it was added to educate those who are unfamiliar with the Nodame canon, but it really ruins the flow of the movie... I can't wait for my DVDs to show up so I can see what was deleted to make room for the Stresemann scenes.
That said, the rest of the movie appears to follow the anime quite well, with Juri-chan and Hiroshi-kun adding their style to their signature roles. And as always, the musical pieces and performances were terrific: anyone that can't appreciate this music really needs to get their head examined.
The English subs from SARS were very well done as usual, though I did spot a few errors: When Oliver says, "Jawohl!" it's translated as "Gyabo!" (); I noticed the word "Funner," which I don't think is a word; and "Kuroki Yasunori" as "Kuroki Yasunaru."

Watched "Movie II" yesterday. It was more emotional than "Movie I", as Nodame's dark fears where exposed. In a way "Movie I" is more fun, but then we were fore-warned in the last scene in "Movie I". Departure from the magna was more apparent here in "Movie II", as they understably took away scenes that were difficult, or very costly, to produce and had to cut the length to about 2 hours. The ending was on a much lighter, happier, note which helped disperse the gloom from earlier scenes.
While Juri-sama has always been a great actress, in "Movie II" she surpassed herself - imagine the very comic, flamboyant, character Nodame switching off the funny antics and actually becomes a 'normal', distraught girl. It's simply amazing.
I hope there is another TV version soon for those who can't get to the movie.

I gotta say man, your description here gave me the chills just thinking about it. I must see this movie. If I had the money I'd fly to Jp just to do so. _________________

I would expect that to happen... Though hopefully they don't hack up the movie like they did for Movie 1.
The added narration in the broadcast version of Movie 1 by Stresemann makes it sound like he's a puppet master and is controlling the entire relationship and future of Nodame and Chiaki... A far cry from the actual story.

ah gomen, there are two postcards not one
sadly to say, this is the worst limited edition dvd I've bought. I usually buy limited edition ones if I really love the movies and they all came out with a satisfying bonus
I hope movie 2 dvd package will be much better _________________

I think we're spoiled because the first season box set was so nice...
What do you think about the two bonus discs?
I'm still waiting for my copy... No tracking info available.

Watched "Movie II" a second time. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I enjoyed this second viewing even more so than the first - maybe this time round I was prepared to see Nodame in anguish.
I think this was why I thought I liked Movie I after I've first seen Movie II. In the drama Nodame was always fluffy, even when she's in pain. Case in point - her conversation with Chiaki after the Maradonna competition. Even though she was in pain her attire and body language were still funny. In Movie II, as I said in a previous post, she's more 'normal'. It's like after all these years you finally get to see the girl behind Nodame.
The great thing about Juri-sama's acting is that this looked like Nodame being really sad, not Ueno Juri acting the role of a sad girl (I hope this makes sense). Although the expression of emotion deviated slightly from the manga, it was still great.
