Watched Episode 1 of Odagiri's drama, Atami no Sousakan without subs.

I hope someone subs this, because someone at d-addicts said it was like a heavy Jikou Keisatsu with dark humor... Fingers crossed

^ both have same director Mr Green I watched the first episode too! I am sold!

This summer season is a relatively good one for me! Am already at episode 4 of Hotaru no Hikaru 2 - it's losing some steam and uses some cliches I hate but that was expected. So far, so fun!

Unubore Deka - watched episodes 3 (so far my favourite) and 4 and still like it but I start to wonder if it's not a little too formulatic. More storylines for the Unubore 5 please!

Episode 2 of Dream Again, about a baseball player who dies and comes halfway back to life. Gaijin actually though it was ok, worth a watch, so far it's good, Sorimachi is so watchable when he's toned down like here. Mr Green

An angel gives him a second chance, brings him back to life as somebody else. Think Heaven Can Wait with Sorimachi in the Warren Beatty role as a Tokyo Giant instead of an L.A. Ram.

Yeah, as gaijin just said, his soul but not his body came back. Nut Coming back as a billionaire is a nice consolation for going halfway back. w00t!

I am Legend episode 1, looks like the first two eps will be just setting up the characters. I think the story will get going on episode 3.

That one took awhile for me, didn't really get going until episode 4 or 5, but turned out to be okay after that.

Shinzanmono. A Japanese word meaning: 1) Excessively Sentimental. 2) Liquid Animal Fat. Especially Chicken Fat.

Oh no... wait. That's the definition of the word "Schmaltz".

Well, six of one, half a dozen of the other. "Shinzanmono" -- http://jdorama.com/drama.1517.htm -- is a detective show that ends each episode positively dripping with schmaltz... and I really do not like murder mysteries dripping with schmaltz.

I watched the whole show. I thought the basic idea was good, and I thought Abe was terrific. But the writing made me want to fast forward through the final ten minutes of each episode. And as all mystery fans know... those last ten minutes are supposed to be the big bit.

Yup.

It was mentioned more than once in the What Are you Watching and Shinzanmono threads.

Abe was terrific, but the drama was blunted by an overabundance of teary sentimentality... Sweat

I watched episodes 1-3 and I'm enjoying the show! I can see it becoming repetitive and dull, but right now the characters are keeping me interested. I hope they continue to do so!
