I've been reading "Death Black Hole" (the title alone is fun), he's really awesome in awakening people's interest for the Universe.
Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" serie is great too, even if it's more than 30 years old. Probably quite known in the US, but here I've only recently seen it for the first time.
