I've been watching Home Town Legends.
I ignored it for a while... I guess because the title confused me. A "home towm legend" in the U.S. usually refers to someone who was a big shot in their home town, but usually went on to be a bust in the big city.
I guess I thought it would be depressing.
But I had it wrong. Home Town Legends in this case refers to ghost stories, or scary stories that were told in your home town... or home village.
It's kind of a trip. All different stories, set in the distant past, featuring ghosts, and goblins, and gumihos.
What can I say... my favorite shows growing up were "Twilight Zone" and "The Outer Limits". I love the sight of a pretty young ghost, with a drop of blood dripping from her eye, and running down her cheek... floating just above the ground as she closes in on her revenge.
Seems there used to be a lot of that sort of thing going on in Korean villages back in the day. _________________
I finished 18 vs. 29 the other day. I started watching it because someone in this thread recommended it, or pointed it out because Park Sun Young is in it (was this you, Geez?).
Anyways, although I'm giving it a 7/10 for it's mediocracy, I'm now a bionafied fan of Park Sun Young's and I'm starting it adore Ryu Soo Young (Bong-man ).
At the request of my students I've started You're Beautiful. Another teen drama but I'm enjoying the eye candy. It kind of reminds me of a clash between Coffee Prince and Boys Over Flowers (the former I loved, the latter I hated). I wonder what I'll feel about it once the novelty wears off. _________________

I am still watching MGFIAGumiho on TV and resisting the desire to find it online. I really want Miho to find Emo is the one she really likes. and I want him to stop his bad plans for Daewoong.
Now Grandpa is yelling at them and trying to have DW go back home and stop the acting job. All the wicked machinations of the ex girlfriend.
Why do ex girfriends have to be so evil.

Re CHUNO..
I did'nt watch all of this drama but I certainly enjoyed all the muscular men and their martial art scenes. Jang Hyuck was quite amazing, and I think did all his own fighting etc. He is into all kinds of martial arts and works at it every day.
Oh Ji Ho was also very manly and he looks good. Very tender and romantic with his slave wife. She was a bit wimpy I thought, but essential for the plot at times.
I saw a few behind the scenes videos and I must say that actors in Korean dramas are at the mercy of the directors and the time allotted to complete a drama. They seemed to be out in the boondocks a lot despite bad weather.
The show must go on....

I sang Park Sun-young's praises... but I wasn't the one who recommended 18 vs 29. I tried that one because Sun-young was in it... but couldn't get past the second episode. _________________
Read up on the Hong sisters to try and figure out what kind of ending it's going to be. I'm still figuring on a happy ending, but there's got to be something bad lurking before the end......
This is probably going to end up being my favorite romcom. Just continues to be entertaining and fun. Shin Min-ah is just terrific....

Wynter,
I did manage to see most of You're Beautiful. Mostly because there was nothing else on. However, I will give you fair warning..it is truly saccharine.
Teenage girls will be all over it but I needed a good sharp drink after to take the sweetness away.
I have found this. It seems a teen drama couldn't be a teen drama without a bucket of cliches.

For the same reason that step-mothers are, I suppose.

Ahhh okay. Well, you didn't miss much. The initial storyline got lost halfway which defeated the purpose of producing the show in the first place. Still, Park Sun-young was beautiful.

It's a weekly 'Schoolgirls Own Magazine' story
Not terrible but not adult.
Yes, the novelty has worn off, though I am enjoying the constant hairdo changes of the main male lead. I refuse to find out how old he is for fear that I might be illegal in my admiration of him.
The story is foolish. To many unexplained details that, as a Film teacher, are rubbing me the wrong way.
Still, I can't say I'm not enjoying it in some capacity, because I'm maintaining my two episodes a day. If this begins to lag, then so too has my interest. _________________

Wynter,
You should see what has happened to Jan Geun Suk these days....... or maybe not.
Anyway what I really wanted to ask you was if you had ever seen the Kim Rae Won drama called, 'Say You Love Me'
This was a very serious drama and quite different from usual romantic stories. Rae Won is really a serious actor and not just a pretty face, and he was amazing in this drama. The cast was great. The scenes were difficult but never offensive. Some of the story was sad but all the way through I was totally connected to what was happening. It all seemed as tho it could happen and I really think it would grab your heart.
For me it was a most memorable drama and I would watch it again. I recommend it.

On a re-watch of I'm Sorry I love You. 2nd K-drama I watched, still my fave, could actually be my #1 between K or J dramas. So Ji-sub is top notch in this, plus it has Im Su-jeong ...was this the last drama she did, can't find anything she's really done the last few years except some movies. _________________

Peg
Peg,
So I ran to my collection to see if I had this drama, and alas, I don't. It's on my want list now so hopefully I'll be able to trade for it soon. Thanks for the recommendation! _________________

Wrapped up Sorry I love You again, what a drama, main problem now is how do you follow up a classic like that, don't think you really can. Twice I've watched Sweet Spy up to episode 8, guess that may need to be finished then. _________________
