Her rough edged style was perfect for playing the role of the Yanki in Kamikaze Girls, though! Well cast, at least.
At least they didn't try to shoehorn someone who didn't really fit the character type. |
True. Both of them fit their characters.

Hehe. I don't have much exposure to Anna Tsuchiya as an actress. I've only seen her in Kamikaze Girls and Sakuran where she plays an Oiran. Have you seen that flick?

Ditto. Does she work in dramas? I'm not sure why but I'm just not fond of Anna.
As for Kyoko, Kamikaze Girls is the only work where her acting hasn't annoyed me.

Seems to be a common view by most people.

Word.
I just said that above, too, about Fukada.

S'all good.
Not that I'm aware of...Tsuchiya doesn't strike me as somebody who's interested in playing a romantic lead or the like in a TV dorama.

"Genji Monogatari" female cast includes Yoko Maki, Lena Tanaka
Sun, October 10, 2010 (10:03pm EDT)
The main female cast of the upcoming "Genji Monogatari" movie has been announced. Joining lead actor Toma Ikuta are Yoko Maki, Lena Tanaka, Shigeru Muroi, Mikako Tabe, Sei Ashina, and Misako Renbutsu.
Maki will be taking on a double role as Genji's mother, Kiritsubo, and Genji's first love, Lady Fujitsubo. Tanaka will play another crucial role as Rokujo no Miyasudokoro.
The other revealed parts are Kokiden (Muroi), Aoi no Ue (Tabe), Yugao (Ashina), and Akiko (Renbutsu). It was already announced last month that Noriyuki Higashiyama, Miki Nakatani, and Yosuke Kubozuka have also been cast in the movie.
The film, said to have a budget of more than 1 billion yen, began filming on September 20 and is projected to finish by the end of the year. Ikuta is said to appear in more than 20 different outfits as Genji.
"Genji Monogatari" is expected to be released in 2011.

No kidding. Going by the trailer, looks like we can expect half the movie to be a close-up of his face with one of his three expressions. I'm sure they'll find a way for him to take off his shirt, too.
Not impressed by the special effects. Japan doesn't do CGI well; they should have stuck to models. Hell, Hollywood should stick to models more.

I didn't think the CGI looked that bad.

I doubt if she'll get killed off.
