According to Wiki, "Cassis" is French for a black currant.

A fortunate by-product of geography I think. Smile Because LA is one of our country's natural ports of trade along the Pacific Rim there are numerous Japanese companies that have set up shop over the years. With that comes people of Japanese descent who brought their food with them.

They said they'd throw me out on my ass if I didn't. No but seriously the gyoza there is way better than what's offered at other Japanese restuarants. So you really have to order it.
