Nothing wrong with some holiday indulgence.
Yeah, keep the drinking to a minimum so I didn't get all crazy or anything. I figure one meal out of over 20 meals a week (3 meals a day) just to satiate any cravings isn't going to derail my progress as long as I'm working out and eating right consistently the rest of the time.

Really surprised that there's so much contradiction given that they're scientific studies...
As always, it must be the politics.
The startling thing about the FNB recommendations is they cite NONE of the numerous studies which disproves their position whereas imminent researchers in the field of Vitamin D have countless clinical studies to argue the need for higher levels of vitamin D to combat the incidence of disease and increase health. I even discussed this with my doctor last week and he was surprised at the FNB's report and lack of any evidence cited to support their lower recommendations...suffice it to say I'm not following the Institute of Medicine's archaic recommendations.
The science is clear....many people are vitamin D insufficient if not deficient and could benefit from more Vitamin D than they are getting from their diets and the sun. Especially here in America, where most people's diets are absolutely pathetic.
The implications of Vitamin D are far reaching and go way beyond just bone health.
So people follow the new lower recommendations at your peril.
Take less Vitamin D and please, please slather every pore on your skin with SPF 44 sunblock to completely halt your body's production of vitamin D.
I'm sure all the cardiologists, oncologists, endocrinologists, prenatal physicians, etc will thank you for it...they need the business, and your money.
This country obviously needs more heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and chronic disease. Do it! The health care industry is sorely lacking money. They will soon need a bail out because they aren't enough sick people in our country!!!! Be a patriot.

Grabbed a sandwich from Joan's on Third.
SHORT RIB with melted jack cheese, arugula and sweet red onions on grilled country white bread. Deelish.
Looks delicious! It doesn't look like a huge sandwich.... was it? Do you remember when the pastrami sandwiches at The Hat were gigantic? In the good old days, half a sandwich would feel you up but now you have to eat the whole sandwich.

Yes. It was the first time I tried this sandwich as I rarely go to this restaurant. It was really delicious. Your description is perfect! I found myself trying to chew slower to savor eat mouthful.
It is a bit expensive, I guess. The sandwich costs $12.50, I believe.

It did taste delicious. In fact this sandwich made the front cover of Bon Appetit magazine.
No, you're correct it is not a huge sandwich. The size of the bread slices were the typical size of sliced sourdough bread in your market's bread aisle.
The Hat! That's a decadent pastrami sandwich Haven't had one in a while, but I daresay it's a carnivore's delight.

In light of the article 'racer posted regarding Umami Burger recognition as GQ's Burger of the Year, I visited this place again for lunch. I usually save my "let loose" meals for later in the week but oh well!
Manly Burger (served w/ beer-cheddar cheese, smoked-salt onion
strings, and bacon lardons) & a side of thin fries with Umami Ketchup and Roasted Garlic Aioli.
So it might just be a burger, but I have to say it's a dayem good one!
