I was really amazed to read your discussion on d-addict, @yannie_chan @bmwracer and @Liubeibei about Mitsuhide and Nobunaga in Honnoji and compare to the other taiga Sengoku.
Gou is my 1st Taiga drama, but from what you've all saying on d-addict, i believe episode 5 of Gou must be the best Honnoji incident ever

Actually, it was more those two than me: I'm not nearly as familiar with the events as they are.
I read that this expression ("The enemy is at Honnōji") means one's real enemy is elsewhere. Since I'm guessing it's from Nobunaga's point of view, it was pretty neat and ironic to give the exact line to Mitsuhide.
Although myabe other Honnōji depictions did the same?

I'm not sure what you mean by "Nobunaga's point of view." "Teki wa Honnoji ni ari" is the famous line in every single drama/book/even video game that Mitsuhide says right before the incident. His original opponent/enemy is supposed to be Chugoku's Mori Terumoto (therefore his 'real enemy is elsewhere'), but since he makes up his mind to "punish" Nobunaga, his "new" enemy would of course be at Honnoji, and thus the famous line.

I understood it this way: Nobunaga real enemy wasn't any of the clans he fought while conquering Japan, he was defeated by a traitor instead. Ergo his the real enemy was at Honnoji.

EDIT: so apparently I got it wrong.
That's the first time I've heard the phrase explained that way...I wonder where the dictionary got it from (or maybe it means Mitsuhide's real enemy is supposed to be Mori Terumoto).
