Thanks for the steaming time! I'm going to try steaming the artichokes instead of boiling them. I know you don't lose as much nutritive value. What's your dipping sauce?
I like light mayo from Hellman's, that's Best Foods out west.
Also melted butter with a little lemon is delicious. _________________

Thanks! I'm going to try the melted butter with lemon since I've always used mayonnaise with a little soy sauce since I was little. Time for a change.
Awesome.
The cooking time is for large artichokes though.
Id try pulling a leaf out ten minutes earlier on smaller ones. Also sometimes I let them sit off the heat in the pot for ten minutesif it seems they need just a little more and I dont want to overcook. I put them in about 3-4" of water with rosemary in it. Delicious! _________________
Burger King Introduces Spam Burgers For The Women Of Japan
If there is one thing women love it's ... Spam?
Well at least Burger King hopes they do. The self-proclaimed royals of the fast food industry will launch mini Spam sliders on June 20 to the lucky women in Japan.
"What women want, what women get" is the slogan for the mini bites of canned ham, prompting the question -- just how many women have been demanding Spam?
While Spam is often joked about in the US, according to the Daily Mail, it's "surprisingly popular" in Japan.
The sliders aren't Burger King's first dalliance with the canned meat. In 2007, Hawaii stores debuted the Spam Platter -- two slices of the meat between white rice and scrambled eggs.
Residents of Hawaii, like the Japanese are fans of the iconic food, where according to MSNBC there are more varieties sold than anywhere else in the world, with residents consuming more than 5 million pounds of it each year.
Burger King Japan seems to pride themselves on offering items you can't get anywhere else. In April they released the "Meat Monster," a modified Whopper with two beef patties, bacon and a grilled chicken breast, that clocked in with 1160 calories and 24 grams of fat.

Japan scientist synthesizes meat from human feces
Jeff Hughes
June 15, 2011
It's being called the "poop burger". Japanese scientists have found a way to create artificial meat from sewage containing human feces.
Somehow this feels like a Vonnegut plotline: population boom equals food shortage. Solution? Synthesize food from human waste matter. Absurd yes, but Japanese scientists have actually discovered a way to create edible steaks from human feces.
Mitsuyuki Ikeda, a researcher from the Okayama Laboratory, has developed steaks based on proteins from human excrement. Tokyo Sewage approached the scientist because of an overabundance of sewage mud. They asked him to explore the possible uses of the sewage and Ikeda found that the mud contained a great deal of protein because of all the bacteria.
The researchers then extracted those proteins, combined them with a reaction enhancer and put it in an exploder which created the artificial steak. The gmeath is 63% proteins, 25% carbohydrates, 3% lipids and 9% minerals. The researchers color the poop meat red with food coloring and enhance the flavor with soy protein. Initial tests have people saying it even tastes like beef.
Inhabitat notes that gthe meatpacking industry causes 18 percent of our greenhouse gas emissions, mostly due to the release of methane from animals.h Livestock also consume huge amounts of resources and space in efforts to feed ourselves as well as the controversy over cruelty to animals. Ikedafs recycled poop burger would reduce waste and emissions, not to mention obliterating Dantefs circle for gluttons.
The scientists hope to price it the same as actual meat, but at the moment the excrement steaks are ten to twenty times the price they should be thanks to the cost of research. Professor Ikeda understands the psychological barriers that need to be surmounted knowing that your food is made from human feces. They hope that once the research is complete, people will be able to overlook that ugly detail in favor of perks like environmental responsibility, cost and the fact that the meat will have fewer calories.
