Yeah, that's the thing: If I don't mind the extra connections, the time waiting and/or changing airplanes, the increased opportunities for lost luggage... I can save money. On the other hand, I need to make the most of my time away from work, because time I'm not working costs me money too. It's a vicious cycle, I tells ya! I'll have to compare scenarios and see what works out best.
Something else I realized is that I'll have to catch another flight while I'm there, as my business partner is on Hokkaido. I'll also be visiting various manufacturers, including in the Sendai region. Lots of planning ahead...
Oh, my brain's startin' to hurt...
You'll get it sorted out... Hope you have a great time.

I had to move my trip to September, and I'm now finding prices in the $1300 range. This is with an extra stop during each flight to LAX. One package only has an 1:15:00 layover in Houston (hopefully that's enough time to change planes, and for the ground crew to keep track of my luggage), and no Airbus. (Prefer Boeing, thank you kindly.)
I'm thinking... instead of packing my riding gear into my luggage, just shipping it to a friend in Tokyo. Helmet, boots, gloves, leathers, everything. Do a bit of riding with a couple of friends there, ship it to Hokkaido (if I'll have time to ride there). Then ship it all back to the U.S. _________________

Hehe. Moral of the story. "Don't trust a nice butt and a smile. That's the old style."
Last November was the first time I toured Tokyo but I sure didn't see any seedy areas. My friend went on a tour of Tokyo and ended up in the red-light district.....she just somehow stumbled there!

Well I am sure you were steered clear of certain areas; fortunately I'm sure.

All Islands To or From Japan $110 Each Way Plus Tax
Mar 13, 2012
Beginning next month therefs a new daily service between Hawaii and Japan, which is Hawaiianfs third route to the country. To inaugurate the latest route theres an extraordinary introductory airfare.
Even with the high taxes, itfs been years since Ifve seen an airfare this cheap to/from Japan. Especially traveling from the neighbor islands, the normal cost is more than double this limited time introductory offer. And itfs often more expensive than $110 to just fly to the next island.
Airline: Hawaiian Airlines.
Route: All Hawaiian Islands to/from Fukuoka, Japan.
Price: $110 each way, plus $222 tax. $664.50, round-trip, all-inclusive.
Book by March 19. Travel from April 17 through April 27 only.
