Oshio as Doumyouji?? How cool is that?! I'm sure he can do a great job just like Jerry Yen did for the taiwan version.
I heard abt the movie which is kinda old though.

hehe...i wonder how they will do oshio's hair...im sooo excited..=) i dont think kyoko would fit the role as well...she's not as um...whats the word, agressive, tomboyish and loud? i think barbie xu did a good job in the taiwan series. i just found out taht they had an old japanese version... back in like 95? with yuki uchida...anyone watch that one?

i will prefer tsukushi to be preformed by matsu takako. tsukushi is a head-strong and proud woman... no offence but i tink Hirosue Ryoko is not suitable for such a role.

If Fukada Kyoko gets the role I will have to gag myself with a spoon. She's absolutely one of the worst actresses I've ever seen. It would be a crime to give such an interesting and complex role Kyoko. I just can't see Makino with that blank/cute expression that Fukada uses to express her entire range of emotions. UGH!

I think Uchida yuki (who was in the movie--which I never saw) has the right look, but I'm not sure she could pull it off.

Maybe it would be suicide for the ratings, but I think they should try to find some unknown or lesser known actress to play the role.

Yes, Barbie did an excellent job on that role. But in my opinion, i like if Yuka play that role coz she used to act as a 'headstrong' girl in "Marriage at 20" opposite Oshio and they make such a cute couple. I love Yuka!
And yup...Uchida Yuki played that role last time but i have not watch it yet. Seen the pictures of the movie though.

Hana Yori Dango started as a shoujo manga by Yoko Kamio in 1992. It's so popular that it was adopted into 51 episodes anime. Not like the anime which ends in the middle of the story, the manga is still running until today. The popularity of HYD reached Taiwan and thereafter they produced "meteor garden" -> the titel of HYD in chinese, doesn't translate the real titel though.
I really like HYD anime but I never watched "meteor garden". Hope to have the chance to but I'm more curious about the japanese "hana yori dango" dorama.

I watched a few episodes of the second season of Meteor Garden, but I didn't like the characters that much. Or maybe I didn't like the actors. I didn't like something. The story was exciting with twists and turns, but I just couldn't get into it.

the manga is great (or the parts I've read so far). And the anime is really nice too.

I wonder how close to the manga they'll go with the dorama.

also: they couldn't really translate the name Hana Yori Dango into Chinese because it is a pun on the word "dango" which is a kind of candy. There's an expression in Japanese, "Hana yori dango" which means someone who likes dango more than flowers, preferring the physical to the aesthetically beautiful. Well in the manga/dorama they substitue the character for man, so it ends up meaning someone "likes boys more than flowers". It'd be pretty hard to translate all that, neh???

Wow.. a japanese manga.. to a japanese anime to a Taiwanese Drama to a Asian phenomenon and now.. back to a Japanese Drama! Hana Yori Dango has had quite a road.

Where can I go to find the real dirt on who is gonna play the female lead? All that talk of Ayu and hikki and kyoko.. its making my head spin. I'd rather see someone fresh take it. SOme one who can really have some strength of presence to take on 4 guys (even if they are a bunch of girlie pretty boys! ) Kyoko just wasn't cutting the tough girl act in Fighting Girl. And sorry, but these divas can priss and bitch, but I have serious doubts they could really act. (Hikki in Hero... ahem.) But who knows they might surprise all of us. Even Ayu...
