Is it any wonder she's always been one of my favorite actresses ever since I got interested in JDorama? She's not only outrageous looking but she's a great actress too. Boy, what I wouldn't do to get a chance to meet her. Oh, well ... guess I can always dream. |
yup, she has that charismatic charm that all these younger actresses don't have and her beauty is a different type of beauty yet it's so stunningly attractive

However--when I was in Tokyo this spring for a few weeks I had my Kuroki bubble burst watching her as a regular on a few daytime game & talk shows. Makeup and camera work are wonderful things, because apparently they've made Hitomi look quite young on doramas recently. But on these daytime shows (similar to the old "What's My Line?" where you have to guess someone's occupation) Hitomi looked every bit her 43 years of age, with sagging jowls, frumpy clothes, and a dour attitude, like she really didn't want to be there. Didn't see her laugh one time--maybe she was up too early in the morning or something.
She's a great actress and I even bought a TOEI calendar featuring her while I was in Asakusa. Guess sometimes actors can be quite different from their dorama or movie characters and I get the feeling that may be especially true with Hitomi. She looked very far from that cheerful stewardess I saw on Good Luck! |
I guess every girl must have her kryptonite or something
Oh and hitomi was never in koi ga shitai. The jilted house wife was another actress.

An article from the J-Ent mailing list about Hitomi....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kuroki Hitomi cashes in on her appeal
Shukan Post
When the National Tax Agency recently released its list of top taxpayers,
popular actress Hitomi Kuroki was listed as having paid more than 31 million
yen in tax for 2003, which means she earned approximately 90 million yen
last year.
Entertainment writer Masaru Nashimoto says, however, that the 43-year-old
star is raking in a fortune. For example, he says, Kuroki earns about 50
million yen for TV commercials and is currently appearing in eight, which
means she is getting 400 million yen just from TV ads. Moreover, two years
ago, Kuroki started a side business selling her own line of merchandise,
which has also been a success.
She markets her merchandise over the Internet rather than at stores. She has
her own web site and there is a page called "Romakun to Batachan," which
sells her goods.
The most popular products are three kinds of autographed calendars (1,500
yen) featuring a smiling Kuroki wearing a black kimono. Her fans are also
snapping up autographed books, photo albums, as well as handkerchiefs which
she designed herself, children's socks and cell phone accessories.
Says one fan, a woman in her 30s: "I know some people who have bought all
her goods. Every fan has at least one of Kuroki's items. Her designs for
handkerchiefs are beautiful, and they are useful too."
Surprisingly, Kuroki has started to sell four different postcards on which
drawings by her daughter are printed. The drawings of rabbits, elephants and
dolls are better than what you'd expect from a child, and are being snapped
up for 600 yen for a set of three.
Kuroki is not the only celebrity to make a side business out of her child.
"Pop singer Seiko Matsuda sold goods designed by her daughter Sayaka when
she was a child at her store called Furoresu Seiko," said Nashimoto.
"However, Kuroki is more successful because she doesn't have to worry about
the expense of running a store. Her business is all online. If it fails,
it's no great loss."
Nashimoto attributes Kuroki's success to her beauty and clean image on TV
and in movies ‹ much more so than many other celebrities

Does anybody know the URL to her website mentioned above? I found what looks like her official webpage (http://www.office-inagaki-co.com/hitomi) but I don't think it's the same one because there weren't any calendars or other goods being sold there. I'd really like to get a calendar of Kuroki Hitomi!
Oh, and if anybody knows of any English website that sells Kuroki Hitomi's calendars, please post it here. Thanks!
