hi !!!!! welcome!! i agree that kimura's acting skills are EXCELLENT!!
I saw PRIDE first, then Engine and Good Luck. And I LIKE HIM BEST IN PRIDE and it's also my favorite dorama of him ( I really like him with Techuchi Yuko )
but honestly, PRIDE is enough to convince me that he's a terrific actor!

Pride was my first Kimura drama too I was skeptical about him, like maybe he's overrated...but he really is a great actor _________________

Apparently, you're not the only one. When TBS broadcast Good Luck in 2003, the airlines got tons of applications for the pilot job. That's the power of our beloved Kimura-kun, don't you think?
Good Luck is the most awesome show ever. I watched it so many freaking times I remember Shinkai ate bananas twice in the show. Once when he was late and driving and the other time when he and Ogawa were sitting on a bench. And in Pride Halu's favourite fruit was grapefruit!

hi Tu_triky! oh i just forgot to list them bec. they're not my fave takuya dorama , but yeah i've watched them too. thanks!
OMG I LOVE HERO AND GOOD LUCK! How can you not like those two shows? I mean even if Takuya Kimura was acting in some lame show like Dracula or something I would still love it. But then again I am just biased hahaha

hi dirtysweet!
i cant understand myself either. most people who have seen those loved it. probably, its just that i have other fave Takuya doramas e.g. Love Generation and One Million Stars from Sky. Not liking Good Luck and Hero doesnt make me love him any less.
Anyway, i'm kinda biased too, other people think Takuya is overated, but whatever.... , i think he is such a good actor. Nobody can beat that ... ( and this is what i call - biased! LOL!)
I am watching GOOD LUCK right now too, though I don't find that storyline that great. KIMURA was the reason I stay on with it cuz he is so good looking in there and he looked extremely cool like a pilot

hero sucked...one of the worst shows i ever saw...takuya was miscast in my opinion....it was too ridiculous...they tried to make him a fox mulder ally mcbeal hybrid....straight wanksta...but then a lot of ppl loved that show.

^^ Dude, if Takuya was miscast, what about Abe Hiroshi? His role in Hero was just weird.. I think, IMHO.. if you're a Kimura beginner.. by all means, watch PRIDE last. Everything I watched after Pride (which is not much, hehe) is just so-so... I haven't watched Beautiful Life.. I have this penchant for avoiding total sob out lout dramas because I know I'm going to make an ass of myself by crying uncontrollably.. so I wouldn't know if that would be "his best work"
Anyway.. I just want to know.. how old was he when he shot the Levis CM? He was just hot...

the show's dumb...they supposed to be lawyers? com'on....watever....beautiful life is definitely one of his best roles...he is imminently believable in that role and the chemistry he has with his costar is great...tokiwa takako...it's one of the highest rated dramas of all time....rightfully so. it's hella sad though...
that and long vacation are two of my favorite shows...
no abe hiroshi is not "as" miscast there....if you've ever seen dekichatta kekkon you'll see he plays a similar role.....but that show was better in my opinion as a romantic comedy....

^^ the bad thing about me watching Abe Hiroshi on screen is that I can't get away with the image of his character in Trick (Ueta) I really can't take him seriously..
Long Vacation is taking hella long to DL... I have 5 eps of yoshitsune already.. Has Takuya starred in a Taiga drama?

i think he was in one about nobunaga...i don't have it nor have i seen it...
i haven't seen trick...i'm too triky for that shiet....just kidding...
i hear that's a good show but it's in the queue somewhere down the road.
i see so he plays a more sophisticated role....i can appreciate that...
hero is a fuggin zero....but it TOO was one of the highest rated doramas....
well seeing as you haven't viewed LONG VACATION yet...that explains things...that show is what started his meteoric rise to that deluxe apartment in the sky...that show had big ratings
Just a question, out of all Kimura's dorama...which is the most popular/high rating and which is least. Though, I know all his dorama are high rating and well know. Thanks

if you're refering to breakthrough as what dorama launched him into super stardom...it was long vacation back in 96...because after that each one of his dramas was one hit after another after another....
long vacation is THE classic drama for all time...
kimura takuya and Tomoko Yamaguchi...his costar, she was mega huge back then...moreover, there wasn't a million channels on t.v. and the viewership for doramas used to be much higher.
the casting, the acting, the writing...several ppl from long vacation went on to become bigger stars in their own right.

i think his most popular highest rated dramas...as mentioned...are long vacation, beautiful life, good luck, and hero....not necessarily in that order...but those are definitely up there.
