Kikukawa Rei was awesome. I liked this every bit as much as the movie which I enjoyed. The story held up well and kept a good pace. I thought it was thrilling and entertaining. Great for Horror/Sci-Fi genre fans.

The only thing good about it was the mystery, which only lasted until the 5th episode. After that, it fell apart. Acting wise, below average. Don't bother. Watch the first few episodes, then read the episode summaries for the rest.

Though I originally thought this was a horror drama, this is more like a murder mystery surrounding the unexplained deaths of a few students. These deaths were triggered by an eerie ringtone that signifies a missed call. The phone message is a recording of the few seconds before the person dies, screams and all.
Enter Detective Sendo and Yumi, a sci-fi magazine writer/employee. They pair up to find out what is causing the murders and how they can prevent it from happening.
The body count is high in this drama and there are lots of cheap scares that reminded me of Ringu and my fear of long-haired Japanese girls (heh). And just when you think the mystery is solved, many other twists come your way.

Where the movie lacked in character development, the drama excels! This is what makes it so much better - you actually feel a part of the mystery and you want to see it solved. The scares are pretty well done, with some very interesting perspectives. I can't say it's the best drama out there, but it's definitely a very good one! Great acting by most of the cast (except for the high school girls), and overall it's a drama I definitely recommend!

I saw the drama first and I saw the movie. To be honest, the drama is ten times better than the movie in many way. I enjoyed each episode and the ringtone in the drama has more depth and starts really scaring you.
The idea behind chakushin ari is something new and you will enjoy it. Get the drama !! It is longer than the movie, the story is more evolved and you will like the ringtone.
