This is the first asadora I've ever made it through. Ono Machiko was delightful as teenage to middle age Ohara Itoko. She did well playing such a large portion of the character's life, managing to make me believe she actually aged as the show went on. However, Natsuki Mari's portrayal was a lovely way to cap off the series. I honestly felt inspired to take up sewing after watching this series. It's wonderful to see a series that is skillfully made, where every character is memorable and touches your heart. Is this the magic of the asadora? My only complaints are that at times it was a tiny bit repetitive, and overacted.

The matriarch is exactly what Japan needs. The silver-haired need to find new meaning in life when their home becomes an empty nest.
