Synopsis
This story takes place at an antiquarian bookshop on a secluded corner of Kamakura, Japan's ancient capital, called Biblia Antiquarian bookshop.

The owner of the shop is Shinokawa Shioriko, a young and beautiful woman who is overly shy and finds it difficult to converse upon meeting someone for the first time. On the other hand, the abundance of her knowledge in antiquarian books is second to none. When she speaks about these classic books, passion overcomes shyness and she becomes the most eloquent storyteller.

1. Unusual But Anticlimactic Holmes-Inspired Mystery [Rating: 8/10]
I liked everything about this series - the concept, the casting (Gouriki Ayame is fantastic in the understated lead,) the setting - but the writing was inconsistent. This is on Crunchyroll under the English title "Antiquarian Bookshop Biblia's Case Files."

Gouriki's Shioriko character, or more specifically her intellect, is a joy to behold as she unravels seemingly inexplicable mysteries with only the vaguest of clues - but some of them are better than others. The "big" climactic mystery - involving a professor's hidden lover, Shioriko's long-absent mother, and a treasure locked behind an elaborate puzzle - is incredibly anticlimactic and leaves you at the end of the series feeling deflated.

I'm hoping subsequent seasons are in the works and that the stories are written with a little more consistency and depth, because the producers succeeded in creating a place and people that you're sorry to have to leave. It's just too bad that the climactic story was so bland in comparison to the smaller mysteries covered up to that point.

What a novel idea. Solving mysteries related to books! Too bad it's also a stupid idea. What's up with Fuji and these gimmicky mystery plots? It reminds me of Kagi no Kakatta Heya, with similar silly mysteries and catchy cool music, but it's not nearly as good as that was.

While I have a general dislike for Gouriki Ayame, she is perfectly suited for her role, but on the other hand Akira, who I have no problem with, is completely wrong for his role.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I hated this, but I feel it's gimmicky, trivial, and pointless.

Story connection to actual books was novel (excuse the pun). Characters and story seemed really shallow.
