The Young Kindaichi is back and better than ever! In this first of many cases, Kindaichi finds himself onboard a cruise ship in which the captain mysteriously disappears the day after a big party. A search of the ship finds nothing, except for little drops of blood on the light switch in the captain's room. Might it be a clue perhaps? You bet! When what looks to be a case of serious foul play unfolds, the ship's radio is found disabled-so much for contacting the authorities. So, far out at sea until they can reach land, it's up to Kindaichi and friends to find the killer - and stay alive!

1. this is too wrong! [Rating: 1/10]
Kindaichi 1 & 2 ended beautifully. With a movie filmed and a ending in the movie saying that Miyuki is transferring school, Hajime 'finally' heard her confession...it ended beautifully.

Everything is so nicely done until this 3rd series came. The girl who portrayed Miyuki in this series appeared in 1 of the case in Kindaichi 2. How can they use back the SAME GIRL to portray Miyuki this time??? hello, director!!! Even if they are going to get different cast this time, they should find a completely new girl which is not a HARD task at all since this girl is no great actress too.

Kenmochi is a COMPLETELY letdown! The original Kenmochi is superb! The comic Kenmochi is very tall, you can see that he is way much taller than Kindaichi, but this one is toooo short to be Kenmochi. And he has the look of a 'bad guy' where the original Kenmochi look more like a gentle uncle to Kindaichi. Miyuki is too short here too. In the comic, we can know that Miyuki is not the normal girl, she has her intelligence and sometimes show more bravery than Kindaichi. This Miyuki is too 'soft' image.

I watch 1~2 episode here and there because i did not look at the screen, but only listen to them talking. I get thrilled because it's the same dubbing for kindaichi 1 & 2 i watched thru' my country's channel. And ya, that's all.

2. matsujun really pulls it off.. [Rating: 8/10]
matsujun did really well as the kindaichi in this new series.. though everyone would always think of tsuyoshi first when they think of kindaichi.. matsujun brought a refreshing new image to the teenage detective.. that was matsujun's aim in the first place.. and i'm glad he acheived it.. suzuki an did well as miyuki protraying a girl who gets sad when kindaichi looks at another girl or when she is betrayed by a friend.. but as usual always there for kindaichi whenever he needs help.. the last scene of all kindaichi dramas are sweet.. i always looked forward to those.. great job by two young actors..

3. Cool [Rating: 7/10]
T"his time Jun plays kindaichi and i think he did a really great job. He looks really cool in the show, and actually after watching it, it made me more interested in Arashi. However, i think that the Tsuyoshi version of kindaichi was better. The cases this time i find not as scary or suspense compared to Tsu one and also not much funny scenes where u see miyuki and hanjime arguing. I've noticed that the filming techiniques is quite different from previous which is new and the theme song i really like.

4. Matsumoto, the pretty Detective... [Rating: 10/10]
He's so cute in this one, and I love the ending theme, it's addicting!
Matsumoto is a great actor, so far I've liked many of the other dramas he was in.
This drama is a must for Jun lovers, or viewers that enjoy Kindaichi. However Jun tends to show more beauty than the original kindaichi manga/anime. I believe that all the Johhny's have played the character well, but the story should get the most attention, for the cases are challenging and suspensful. I want to watch this one Again!!!

5. The New Kindaichi [Rating: 7/10]
Suzuki An is back in another Kindaichi series but this time, instead of being a shy little girl in a cameo of the second season of the original, she stars as sidekick Miyuki. Being a fan of the old series, I do prefer the old version better. But it is nice to see some new cases. The only problem I have is that this series is short. Plus I did not find it as funny as the original. Overall, however, it's worth at least a watch once over.

6. Enjoyable [Rating: 8/10]
This show was really fun. I've never seen the first two series, and I know a lot of people prefer the original cast. But this cast did a good job. The show is more involved with solving the bizarre, often bloody murders than it is with developing the relationship between Kindaichi and Miyuki. Which to me, is a plus. But there are enough humorous asides and sweet moments to keep the romantic viewer satisfied.

7. Great show!!!! [Rating: 10/10]
At last!!! New cases!! The constant repeating of tsuyoshi domoto's version of kindaichi has become a bit boring. the cases this time round are more interesting n thrilling. U will experience a different feeling cos Kindaichi has changed. Matsumoto Jun pumped in a totally new image of Kindaichi. Plus Miyuki n the inspector. totally different. Watch it n experience it for yourself

8. take it as a new show! [Rating: 8/10]
I'm a fan of the original actually, but this one isn't half bad. Matsumoto is a very different Kindaichi--not really that funny, exaggerated or cute as Tsuyoshi. But it is definitely more down-to-earth while Tsuyoshi's was more like the manga.
The cinematography was definitely an improvement. But to really enjoy it, don't expect the same feeling the original gave you!

I originally grabbed this to watch more of Matsumoto Jun, but I was really suprised at how absorbing the mysteries are! I love quirky, msyerterious series like this and I devoured each and every episode! I hope I can find the first two series to watch - even though no MatsuJun - because I'm really interested in seeing more of Kindaichi!

10. Fun mysteries to solve [Rating: 7/10]
MatsuJun's Kindaichi is fun and Suzuki Anne plays a good supporting role as they solve mysteries together. My personal favourite was still the first episode although the rest were still pretty fun to follow. This was my first set of Kindaichi so I'm looking forward to seeing Kazuya's and Dohmoto Tsuyoshi's version.

yep, this one is different than DoTsuyo's version, bcoz Matsujun's Kindaichi is funkier and in tune with the contemporary taste. An is also the sidekick with an attitude. I agree tho that the earlier version is better coz it stays true to the comic book..however, you shouldn't give this a miss!!

A great series with lots of variety in both suspense, mystery, and thriller with light touches of romance and humor. (Hard to find the romance, but it's there). Matsumoto Jun does a rather convincing portrayal of the young detective, Kindaichi, and it was a lot of fun to watch him solve each case. At times though, the cases seemed to be more on the creepy/horror side of things.

His female counterpart, who does not have much of a large role, Miyuki played by Suzuki Anne also does a wonderful job. Towards the end though I was really rooting for some romance between them. ^_^

I highly recommend this series for anyone to watch. For those who are easily scared, maybe it would be better for you to watch this in the daytime. Hehe. There were some parts that reminded me of X-Files because of the supernatural-like beginnings and murders.

This drama is good, but i like Kindaichi II much more. Although this one has much nicer effects and the scenery is much more sharp than Kindaichi I and II. I quite liked the ending, quite sweet and it was sorta of predictable too.

But the major let down is the cast. I didn't like the Miyuki in this one at all. I didn't think she protrayed the character of Miyuki very well. Person who was Kenmochi was a major let down too. I really like the Kenmochi in the Kindaichi 1 or 2 much more. He also didn't portray to character Kenmochi really well either.
MatsuJun as Kindaichi wasn't tha bad, but if compared to Tsuyoshi as Kindaichi in 1 and 2...probably.

(sidenote: wrong picture is used for this drama. MatsuJun is the Kindaichi in this one and not Tsuyoshi Domoto. )

Interesting mysteries, though poor setup leading into the mysteries (building a sand dome, some guy crashes into it and then invites them to go home with him to see how weird his family is? what the hell?). And the new Kindaichi is obviously low on acting skills, I shutter every time he says "on my grandfather's behalf." The girl's role seems rather unnecessary, she has minimal participation, other than asking "doshite doshite." I heard that the original 2 seasons are much much better. Watch this for the mystery, not the acting.

It's ok, watched it cuz of MatsuJun. It's not totally amazing, but it's good to watch when you have spare time.
there's this one episode that was really really stupid. k they were at this party and there was a murder. one of the clues was that the fish in the fish tank were die *gasp gasp*. but, when you saw the fish, they were sinking to the bottom of the tank instead of floating! so ya I thought that was the most retarded thing I've ever seen. but other than that, it was really good.

MatsuJun's Kindaichi is completely a different one with D.Tsuyoshi's one ... MatsuJun did quite a good job .. but i personally likes Tsuyoshi's Kindaichi more ... haa .. MatsuJun's one is a little too cool ... and i prefer Tomosaka Rie's Miyuki more ~~ but the story plot is interesting .. every case is a different one ...i enjoyed the one with Nari in it most ~

I wanted to watch a mystery show. I had read some of the manga. Matsujun as Kindaichi solves the mysteries. Erm, nothing too special about it. The sub was also awful, similar to the DO show. I think it was subtitled from a Chinese translation. There were many times when the subs were just not what the characters were saying and it was pretty funny.

Watched it for Jun and somehow I got drawn into all the mystery, the suspense and the thriller aspects of it. It was really fun to watch Jun solve each case like a genius kid that he is. Putting the pieces together was the exciting part. I was also touched by the pure innocent love between Miyuki and Kindaichi. They are so cute!

Well yeah... I missed a real storyline through the episodes, but that might be, because there were already two series before, which I haven't seen and maybe the planed on further series... anyways, I found it quite interesting and the cases were quite good, as well as the acting skills of Matsumoto Jun and Co... :3
12. Comments by ryce [Rating: 7/10]
Interesting mysteries... but generally the series pales in comparison to the previous Kindaichi tv series. Matsumoto Jun doesn't quite portray the character of Kindaichi as well as Dohmoto Tsuyoshi. And I couldn't feel any chemistry between the new Kindaichi & Miyuki, as compared to the old pair-up.

Not bad. Never watched other Kindaichi, other than Kame's, so I can't really compare. Jun's pretty funny. He's so cute with his bucktooth.. Fell in love with Arashi's Ji Dai the first time I heard it... The cases are a bit boring sometimes, but it's still okay when Hajime shows his funny self.

my first ever jdorama. it caught my attention on tv. and i went all the way out to get it and watch it from the beginning. i really love the cases. they're always so interesting and fun. and i like reading the comics too. but sometimes admit really quite scary. like the butterfly hse. *brr*

Good and refreshing!! Definitely woth to watch. But compared to the manga, it's a bit different. YOu don't get to see kawaii-Kindaichi in the manga ;-) [and Kenmochi isn't that short!]
I wish to see something more similar to the manga, so I think it's fair to give this dorama 7 out of 10.

Cute!!! I love the suspense of trying to figure out the muderer before Kindachi did. This drama is really episodic and doesn't really feature an ongoing plot. I don't know why the show photo is of Tsuyoshi, but the lead in this version is a young Matsumoto Jun.
19. Comments by jica [Rating: 8/10]
I think Jun is too cool and too handsome to be Kindaichi... and I didn't liked the cases that much. But it was enjoyable. Anne Suzuki was good as Miyuki. Maybe I look forward to it too much so I was kind of disappointed. But I think you should see it.

Excellent series!! Matsujun plays the role of Hajime Kindaichi very well. The cases are really good with some surprising twists to them!! As usual Anne Suzuki plays her role adorably!! she's so cute!! Also has very excellent other supporting actors.

Cute and clever MatsuJun ^-^ He makes a really good Kindaichi but I think I liked Kamenashi Kazuya more in the movie... The cases were more interesting in that season than in the movie though! ++ Narimiya Hiroki appears ^-^ (but weird character lol)
22. Comments by miia [Rating: 7/10]
since dis is jun's first drama... it is quite evident that he needs more experience before becoming the jun we all know now... Some of the cases are very interesting n engagin. But i kindof feel that Suzuki Anne is a tad bit annoying haha
23. Comments by Hoshi [Rating: 9/10]
9 points because Matsujun cannot measure up to Domoto Tsuyoshi when it comes to acting as Kindaichi. XD Some of the episodes are pretty good, but there was a little overuse of CG here and there. The ending credits was awesome though.

This drama is really fascinating in a lot of aspects..of course that could be biased since I've only seen the third season and not 1 or 2 but some of these mysteries are so...out there...very cool drama indeed. Jun's acting in this is marvellous and it's just great all around *___*
