Liar Game

Episode #1 is up on d-addicts now! Time to officially make a thread for it since there isn't one yet. I'm downloading it now. http://www.s-projects.org will be subbing it. As a big Toda Erika fan I been waiting for this for sometime now. :) Only disappointment is that the first episode is only 36 minutes long. Hopefully the next episode and so forth are longer. I'm hearing the show is supposed to be similar to Kurosagi. Some are calling it Kurosagi 2. I liked Kurosagi so that's cool :D

Based on the manga series of the same name, Toda Erika plays an honest college student, Kanzaki Nao, who receives a million dollars one day, along with a card saying she has been chosen to take part in the "Liar Game". The aim of the game is to trick the other players out of their one million dollars. At the end, the winner gets one million dollars and the loser is one million dollars in debt. Horrified, Nao tries to contact the game organizers to give them their money back. Her old high school teacher offers to help, but it turns out he actually is her opponent in the game, and easily tricks her out of her million dollars. Coincedentally, Nao notices a newspaper article one day regarding an ex-swindler named Akiyama Shinichi. Desperate, she contacts him for help.

Wow this show sure starts off weird, is filmed weird, the colors are odd, ect. but it is very interesting. I love it. LOL. :) Then again I'm biased because of Erika. I have no problem watching RAW things before their subbed. I just watch them again later. Maybe it make more sense to me then, but I still get the drift and understand alot of what is going on. :D I like weird things I guess LOL

it is out already...yay...can't wait to see it..
downloading now..

The scenes jump around alot quickly and days kinda move by quickly, in general everything is quick but that might be because it's just a 36 minute episode. The lighting is a bit odd [lots of dark colors, redish pink seems to go around alot], but this is all the first episode. Still good stuff. Erika is soooo kawaii big time in this. I love her in the red dress in the introduction credits soooo much. The guy is a bit cool too. It might take sometime to download. It took me a few hours, but I been checking d-addicts closely since late last night and all day today for it, so that's why I saw it already and got everything so quick. I been waiting for this series to start forever. :) :D The OST is interesting. No sign of Iwasa Mayuko in the first episode though. Next episode looks just as odd. Heh. It's great.

my download doesn't move at all..
it'll take forever...nvm..i'll wait for it... :victory:

Yea, it was extremely slow for me too. I was downloading another new show while downloading it too, so only imagine heh. Here's a tiny little preview... I uploaded the intro credits with the red dress I love on Erika oh soo much LOL the intro doesn't contain anything spoilerish... no scenes in it... so don't worry...

really can't wait to watch it..

I know she really does :bonk:

o.O Matsuda Shot'as hair is... *keeps my mouth shut* But it seems like a good dorama! Will watch it too. :victory:

Sad news, apparently the person who was going to sub this can't now because they got slammed with some copyright law from Japan, so as of now this series will have no subs. But, the person who was going to do it before getting slammed is planning to write up synopsis of each episode detailed and broken down by every scene. Still in all this stinks. Maybe someone else will pick up the sub project, but it might be sometime before that happens. Hopefully it won't be long since Erika is becoming pretty famous.

:shamefulcry: Argh, copyrights. :banghead:

Synopsis:
A small Police Box. A 100 yen coin on the table. Two policemen and a girl.

Policeman Tanimura (surprised): Eh? 100 yen?
Nao (the girl): Did I do something wrong?
Tanimura: Nono, I think the person who dropped it would be happy. Right?
Another policeman: Right. We will take care of this 100 yen, okay?
Nao: Thank you. (bowed and left the Police Box)

Tanimura and the other policeman looked at Nao's back in amazement. Tanimura took the submittance form from the table to look at Nao's data (name and address, etc), while holding the 100 yen coin between his two fingers....
Tanimura: Nowadays, a girl like her is quite rare, isn't she?
The other poilceman: Yes, what can we say of a person like her....extremely honest, or stupidly honest...

The form showed that the girl's name was Kanzaki Nao, and she lived in Yokohama.

Nao (smiling cheerfully, walking in a beautiful park with blooming sakura trees): People often say that I am stupidly honest. KYAAA!!!?? (She fell into a hole in the park, and completely disappeared into the ground).

A group of kids came running over in glee. It was a trap hole.

Nao: My experience of falling into a trap is 42 times. (Her head popped out from the ground, and she smiled sheepishly at the children.)

Flashback: Nao was reading a letter which said that he (a male friend at school) would like to meet her to have a talk because he liked her very much, and asked her to wait for him outside the school. She waited for 5 hours in vain. Still, she said that she got tired because she was feeling excited waiting for him for 5 hours, and did not look angry at all.

Flashback: Nao was in bed in the morning. The phone rang. She took it.
Nao: Moshi moshi...
Male voice: Nechan (elder sister), it's me, me. It's urgent, could you please transfer some money to my account?
Nao hurriedly got up and grabbed her purse to go to the bank, only to realize that she was an only child and did not have any younger brother.

Example of how it's currently gonna be subbed through synopsis. Really stinks. :( Total credit for the above and so forth on goes to siantut at http://www.s-projects.org who was going to sub it, but like I said has to do this instead.

wow the plot sounds amazing, and the actor/actress lineup also looks amazing. Is not the typical Japanese drama either, but sadly no subs . tears...

It's out!?!??? Omg! I'm glad I saw this post cause I totally forgot!

And Iwasa Mayuko is in here??? OMG I'm so happy! She's my 2nd favorite idol and Erika Toda is my 3rd. Awesome!

WTF? That's retarded! There's probably some trick but i dont see how free fansubs are illegal especially when they're not being sold. And reading plot summaries are better than nothing but it's ridiculous to have to watch the show, be "?????" the whole time, then read the summary afterwards. It makes me angry.

Why hasn't this happened to the other subbed dramas? Or are they doing this to all the new dramas? And did the japanese company formally message the subber and tell him not to do it? How'd they find out?

Has anyone seen the movie Saw?? :bleh:

it's because that subber lives in japan and would be affected directly.

i can't wait to see it!!!

wait so you saying they threatening him not to do it?
Isn't that like illegal as well? :bonk:

Yes, it seems the subber got slammed with the copyright talk over the fact that they live in Japan. So, there is still a good chance someone else could end up subbing it, but who knows when. At least this happened during the first episode and not later, give's more time to find someone else :)

That guy is like the tournament master or something. He appears in all the videotape messages that Erika's character gets.
