I havent seen appleseed as well so im not familiar about its cg but for the ones that i did watch, I think Macross Zero has the best animation thus far.
Too bad the release is slow, got to wait next year ofr eps4.
:(

Sometimes too much CG take the whole "ANIME" factor out of it.

I do trade anime 2 FOR 1 if you have any of the titles below:

Ghost in the shell [series]
Mad Bull 34
Angel Cop
Mahoromatic Season 2
Comic Party
Tenshi na konamaiki [episode 4 and above]

i have mahoromatic, comic party and tenshi no konamaiki up to eps31 but I dont do mail trades, sorry. I can put it on IRC if u want but my upload is very, very slow.
Anyway, u can get tenshi no konamaiki on animesuki.com, Comic party - i think i got on sharereactor forums and mahoromatic via kazaa.

Finally, found working links. Appleseed CGI:

I recommend you avoid downloading trailer 2 - it's defective. Bear in mind the film is still in production so these are more like demo reels.

i've just watched the appleseed trailer
they look a lot like those game graphics (jet set radio / sonic / zelda on GC etc) a little bit more enhanced tho

btw thanks for sharing :)

thats cool!
its shows off better but I presume it will be all in cg then right?

i haven't quite got it - I hope masume doesn't open a new era of cg animation ONLY
23 Dec 2003, 04:51 #413
well I can't say I know much about the new engine being used but by all accounts the film is made up of CGI and traditional cel animation. I really don't know how it's put together but I'm pretty sure it isn't 100% computer animated.
Roll on spring 2004

most anime now *IS* CG(I) only
CEL based anime started slowing down a few years ago

I think sam is saying the use of 3D CGI visuals may be a concern.
I don't think Masume is doing anything wrong, he's only trying something new and I don't think traditional looking anime will die out as a result. The standards are always being set higher for anime but you have to remember that not all shows and films have the same kind of budgets.

like?
as far as i know they're almost all hand painted, at least the outline
25 Dec 2003, 00:32 #418
Milkchan> yeah indeed...i've seen the trailer of GITS 2 which is the anime with the highest budget (According to the site, even higher then Akira!!)
but yet, it states the characters are all manually drawn aided with 3d background and such
25 Dec 2003, 00:47 #419
the last time i watched anime was weib kreuz gluhen...
i like it more in gluhen then the classic one :good:
but the gluhen is an OVA right?and the classic one is an anime?

Yea by saying most are CGI animated these days is a bit of a stretch. There are computer aided animated tv series which are hand drawn then tinkered with on computer, like soul taker for example. traditional hand drawn cel animation has not died out, it would defeat the point of the anime style and what animators have been doing for years, it's just once in a while they can play around with new ideas. These days I think there's room for every style.
