If so, isn't it just a popularity contest, just like J-D's Top 50 lists?
Nope, it's actually a variety of people. I don't remember right now, but I'll read the blurb again tomorrow. I do recall that they also included actual Japanese Anime creators/artists/crew from Japan as well. :victory:

Death Note has been on my watch list for a while! I saw the movie recently, even tho I had told myself I wouldn't watch it until I'd seen the anime.

it has a really interesting plot...and it's basically a psychological thriller wrapped in a supernatural skin.

I got Red Garden volume 1 for Christmas. I watched episode one yesterday, and it's looking fantastic. Even my bf is already hooked!
Has anyone else here seen it? I've read a lot of this thread, but not seen it mentioned.
Can't say I have....hmmm....there are so many Japanese animations I'm not surprised. Glad you liked the first episode. I'll have to look it up at some point.

Thank you. :D Red Garden was shown in Japan in 2006/7, so it's relatively new...I think.
There's a nice trailer here -

I'm not at all experienced in anime-watching, but I think RG looks fantastic, too. :)
Just saw episode 2 tonight - still wonderful. Cannot wait to see more.
Oh Stevie, what's "Requiem"? I haven't heard of that. :headscratch:

Thanks for the link Keps-chan! :D
No problem. :D
I'll definitely want to check out more Gonzo stuff. Trinity Blood I've read about. One of the magazines I read gave it a glowing review. It's certainly one I'm going to look for in future.
Red Garden's pretty good, the ending was a little... anti-climatic for me. I haven't seen the specials yet though, waiting for someone to sub them.
As far as Gonzo, i love their older works. I really think they're going down in quality. I don't know if it's the storyboarders or whatever, but they're not my favored animators anymore. Take the recents for example, Rental Magica and Rosario+Vampire are both pretty bad. Rosario has become super ecchi, when the manga isn't as much so.

I have seen neither, but I agree that GonzoLs weakness lies in the story/scripting. Trinity has way too many Hellsing references.

Eek. I hope I'm not going to be disappointed.

 Hey kyon-kyon chan, I can't find The Legend Of The Glass Fleet on YouTube, and it's not mentioned on the Studio Gonzo Wikipedia page. Can you tell me when it's from?
