Hey... I don't think this is related to Japanese vid games, but anyway, do you guys know of any good RPGs (for PC)? Recommend pls... with dtls of course. I'm going to buy one, and I don't want to end up with a crappy game. Wastes my $$$.
Some RPGs I thought were pretty appealing but don't know which to choose...
Neverwinter Nights
IceWind Dale I and II
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
[/list:u]
a very very pathetic list.
I'm not only looking for action-based RPGs, I like those focused on the plots as well. I like a balance between the two. 2D or 3D, it doesn't really matter. Just as long as the graphics are above average. of course, I'd prefer those with 3rd edition D&D.
Previous RPGs I've played and liked include
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick
Fallout I and II
Diablo I and II
Uh.. that's about all?!?! Precisely why I want to buy more RPGs. They're fun. Very fun. Other than Arcanum and Fallout which are very story-based, Diablo is a hack-n-slash kinda game... actually, not my cup of tea.
Suggestions anyone? Thanks so much!

baldurs gate series is the best pc rpg for the pc in my opinion. It has the best development and plot out of all the rpgs i've played on the pc. Some others say planescape: torment has a great story, but i never tried it.

TOKYO — Sony Corp said Tuesday it will launch a home-use device that can function as both a PlayStation 2 game console and a DVD/hard-disc drive recorder in Japan in time for the year-end shopping season.
The new device, called the PSX, offers ready access to various content on a hard disk drive (HDD) and records and reproduces still and moving images from such devices as digital cameras and video cameras, Sony said.
THis stuff will add a heavy competition in handheld ne
Also will give a big blow to Nintendo which in trouble recently..
I think da merger of Nintendo n Sony will be good ne...Some of Nintendo ppl is really cool da problem maybe they don't have capital strength as sony..Too bad Nintendo is da one who make a step so videogame world can be like now.

YOKOHAMA: Sony Corp's .games division said on Wednesday it plans to start mass production of a new chip to power the PlayStation 2 (PS2) game console this month, using cutting-edge 90-nanometre processing technology, in a move that will lower manufacturing costs.
Monthly production of the chip, which combines the game console's microprocessor and graphics chip, will start at "several" hundred thousand units before growing to more than a million units by next year, Sony Computer Entertainment's Chief Technology Officer Kenshi Manabe said at an industry event.
"The development costs to shrink down the chip can become quite high, but if you consider that we sell 20 million PS2s a year, then in the end it's cheaper," Manabe said at a forum sponsored by the Semiconductor Association of Japan.
Sony has invested more than 300 billion yen ($2.73 billion) since 1999 to develop and shrink the PS2 chips by almost 80 per cent. By creating a smaller chip, Sony can produce more per 200 millimetre (eight inch) wafer and reduce costs.
Initially, Sony used 180 nanometre processing technology to manufacture the PS2 chips, but it has gradually moved to narrower circuitry in recent years. A nanometre is one-billionth of a metre.
The mass production of the PS2 chips using 90-nanometre technology comes one day after Sony said it planned to begin sales of PSX, an all-in-one game and entertainment system, in Japan this year at a minimum price of 79,800 yen ($719).
A Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) official said later that the chips using 90-nanometre technology might be used in other Sony products, not just the PS2. Sony Computer Entertainment is a game unit of Sony.
Even as development work continues on the current generation of cutting-edge semiconductor chips, Sony's Manabe said the company plans to start installing equipment at a new plant that is creating a next-generation microprocessor code-named "cell".
"We expect to start mass production of 'cell' in the second-half of 2005," Manabe said. "For the time being, we plan on setting up a pilot line."
Sony plans to invest 500 billion yen over the next three years in semiconductors, including 200 billion yen for "cell", which will initially use 300 millimetre wafers and 65-nanometre circuitry.
Analysts expect the chip to power Sony's next-generation game console, but the company aims to make "cell" the global standard for consumer electronics in the high-speed Internet era.
The next-generation microprocessor is being developed by Toshiba Corp and IBM.
By midday, shares in Sony were down 2.51 per cent at 3,890 yen, versus a 1.07 per cent decline in the Nikkei 225 average.

Konami as one of Da profitable Game developer will bring da 'Walk alone horror' Silent hill to the big screen..Hope they not ended up like Square who lots lots of cash makin FF Spirit Within  ..I wouldn't worry cause HIdeo Kojima is in there ne
Eep. Silent Hill scared the heck out of me... I mean.. I played Silent Hill on PSOne and already I was getting increasingly paranoid... what's more.. I played at night.. haha.
I think what's scary about this game is NOT the creatures/monsters. Rather, there is a kind of mystery that surrounds the whole game, and throughout the game, what makes us feel secure is taken away from us, for example, there is barely any music, and if there is at all, it would be a haunting, chilly piece.
The sound effects sound very real, and just look at the transformation of the real world to the 'nightmare' world.. what was once solid, concrete walls and floors turn into rusted gratings stained with the blood of who knows what...
There are hardly any people as well, except for Cybil the policewoman, and Cheryl the character's daughter, whom we don't even know is dead or alive. So... you get my drift...
With Hideo Kojima at the helm of the movie version of an already successfully frightful video game, I'm quite sure the movie will be a box-office hit. If it isn't, then it's a disappointment.

BTW, I just bought Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, and it's a VERY VERY beautiful game. I recommend it to those people who love to have the freedom of doing whatever they want in a game. And when I say freedom, I really mean freedom.
This is an extremely non-linear RPG, and it has a rather complex plot, but otherwise the gameplay is pretty good. However I'm very disappointed by the combat system... there are basically only 3 moves we can make... thrust, chop and swing if I'm not wrong.
Graphics are absolutely breath-taking, provided you have a good 3D Graphics card. The scenery is wonderful... heck, the clouds in the daytime even move! They're the most realistic clouds I've ever seen so far in a game.
The musical score rocks too, very nicely integrated into the game. Sound effects are great too, character voices are refreshing. Different voices for almost everyone.
So all in all, a very good PC game... I like it!
Next in my list would be Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights.
