It's a craze that has blown over now, but it was really popular.
I spose you could compare it to the whole 'Dude' and 'Sweet!' thing that came anlong with 'dude wheres my car'.

I personally think he was adorable, but you really needed to see him on shows like utaban and stuff to enjoy his certain comedic flavour *g*.

I agree with ppl that the whole ƒQƒbƒcIthing was blown out of proportion, hence people gettting sick of it.

As for what 'gets' means, it is quite literal, like obtain or get. however, it can be used in the sort of context where it means something along the lines of 'scored' or 'gotten laid'. But dandy *rarely* uses it in that context. *g*

Thats my vague explanation, hope it helped ^-^;;;

thanks for the explanation.. but it still gets me puzzling.. why would people use something that they dun really actually understand the meaning of..? :hehe:

btw.. welcome to jdorama forums, tropirach!!

i agree i mean... english words put in when they have no meaning.. probably just because it's kakkoii.. but it doesnt matter though.. i won't know there's english in the song unless i see the lyrics.. :hehe:

Thanks for the welcoming!

I spose the whole ppl using random words comes with the natural 'evolution' of languages. by starting off with a half known word, by the time people stop using it, the meanings been warped to fit what ever the ppl who used it made it into. :sweat: It happens all the time in english. words just evolve. I guess it shows the japanese language's ability and willingness to change over time... or something :sweat:

This "ƒQƒcIh thing was started by some "owarai" guy (Japanese comedian), I forgot his name who was always wearing a white suit. It's just one of those things that comedians do, to create an impact so people remember them.

It has no real meaning, actually.

Here's a page that shows you the original and other variations.

Just to add to this, the Gets! popularity was partly because he made a game out of saying it and pointing similar to rock, paper, stone. Basically you would count to three and then point either up, down, left, or right whilst shouting Gets! in an attempt to guess the direction of your opponants Gets! I don't understand it but it was hugely popular a while back.

I heard of "get's" a few times before too, from a friend he said it was very popular 2 years ago. Funny to know about the background a bit... what do you think of this? Got a bit inspired and took photoshop: :bonk:
