Terryb wrote:Oh yeah, totally forgot to post: Dennis Bergkamp Testimonial was played last saturday. It was the first ever official match in the newly built Fly Emirates (Arsenal) Stadium, and they invited all his old buddies both from Ajax and Arsenal. I had tears in my eyes watching him the last time on the pitch :shamefulcry:

Bergkamp is my alltime favorite player, such a technical genius and still oh so good even at his age 37.

check some of his goals here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2pHYudIyx4&search=bergkamp%20newcastle

especially the pirouette goal: best goal I've ever seen. the way he passes his oponent with a counter effect flick: phenomenal

that was disgustingly sweet! as they said...."MASTERCLASS"

Duo back in Serie A

Lazio and Fiorentina have been reinstated to Serie A but Juventus remain in Serie B following their appeals against the sanctions imposed on them as a result of the match-fixing scandal.

The Rome and Florence outfits were originally relegated to Serie B and docked seven and 12 points respectively for the new season, but they returned to the top flight following an announcement by federal court president Piero Sandulli on Tuesday night.

Fiorentina will start the new season with a 19-point deduction, while Lazio will start with an 11-point deficit.

Juventus, the club hardest hit for breaking Italian Football Federation (FIGC) rules, remain in Serie B but have had their 30-point deduction reduced to 17.

But AC Milan, who avoided relegation under the original verdict, have seen their 15-point penalty for next season reduced to eight.

---

which means AC Milan is allowed to play qualifiers for the Champions League :shakehead:

you know somebody sucked some d*ck and paid the relevant person a certain sum of money....

and the italians get "angry" when nobody takes their Federation authorities seriously ...what a load of sh*t......the gov't can't even stick to its orignial verdict without giving in to the pressure within a matter of 2 weeks.....

yeah, and after that he said something like: "everytime Bergkamp scores, I mean it's never an ugly goal" (ie. they are all outstanding goals) :applaud:

Arsenal will be missing Bergkamp alot, especially Henry will miss his buddy up front. not only could Bergkamp score goals, he could give the best through-pass through a defense too
:victory:

how appropriate....did Bergkamp play alongside Therri Henry?
26 Jul 2006, 05:09 #1165
um yeah, haha I just edited my post above while you replied.

Henry was the deep striker and Bergkamp was the second (support) striker whatever you call it just behind Henry.

i guess we were thinking along the same lines ^_^ thanks again, for sharing the video clips...they were very enjoyable. :)

But it's not all lost, since Van Persie will be his 'substitution' :woot:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg_KoxEkpRs&mode=related&search=van%20persie

he performed well at the worldcup too:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaTsQQ28Rws&search=van%20persie%20portugal

should have scored here, as he scored many for Arsenal from this position from larger distance
:shamefulcry:

i asked this question in this thread a long time ago..and i thought you might be able to answer my question...but i never got a resposne...

why didn't Ruud play in Holland's final game vs. Portugal in the WC 2006
26 Jul 2006, 06:10 #1169
Ah, they didn't play Ruud because he's shitty striker and I hate him. :hehe:
unlike Bergkamp he makes really ugly goals, 50% are tap-ins (not sure if you call it that) or rebounds. but hey that's a skill too..I just happen to dislike that kinda striker. I don't think he scored a goal from outside the 16.

as for the reason he didn't play: the manager thought he didn't bring much in the first few games at the Worldcup. And I agree, but that's not Ruud to blaim: he's not known for being a technical genius like Henry or Bergkamp, also it's the system to they are playing. When playing 4-3-3 with wingplayers Robben AND Van Persie (you've seen them in action) it doesn't matter which striker you put in, because the wingers are dribbling fanatics the striker will never get the ball. Ok, I think I have to rephrase that, it's not the system to blame, it's the wingplayers haha.

normally when you play 4-3-3 the wingplayers job is to dribble to the backline and pass the ball to the (only) striker.

blah, I hate how Holland performed. The team was unbalanced, because he played the wrong players in the wrong spots (especially the midfield) and as much as I respect Van Basten: he has failed miserably as a coach. the things he said after the tournament were ridiculous and he can even stay. they even offered him a new contract! wtf
:bleh: I mean come on, we went out the 2nd round. Even Brazil's coach had to go after being knocked out in the quarterfinals no less.

thanks for your detailed answer...i asked the question not to be sarcastic but simply because i really did not know the answer...i appreciate the time you took to answer my quesiton and educate
me....

given your affinity for the game, as a Dutch resident, i figured you would be the best person to ask :)

Seems like Real Madrid is on the move again, I somehow see Ruud going to Bayern Munich instead.

thils is like a mini-dorama....are the subtitles out yet on d-addicts? ;)
27 Jul 2006, 08:47 #1173
well seems like both Real Madrid and Bayern have put up a bid around ’10 million, but ManYoo wants nothing less than ’15 million. so there's still ’5m in it (around US$9m)

interesting fact: ManYoo bought Ruud from PSV Eindhoven for ’19m back in 2001. and he scored about 160 goals for ManYoo so far: that's alot.

160 goals...wow, that's pretty impressive.
27 Jul 2006, 09:38 #1175
Yeah 160goals in like about 200 matches, that's a statistic that you gotta respect. that is till you see the ugly goals haha :hehe:

oh yeah, in his early days Ruud was kinda notorious for "diving" too so they made these shirts - it cracks me up still

and after the Worldcup they added these:

man, i saw FC Barcelona play against Chivas Guadalajara yesterday...sold out 70,000 ppl in attendance. the game was blah until Ronaldinho started to play...you know you got love when everybody in the stadium stands up and goes crazy when you step onto the field....and everytime you touch the ball.

dayem, he's was awesome.

by the way, this was trippy, Kobe Bryant and his wife were sitting about 10 rows away with Antonio Villaragosa. :hehe:

haha, see? when playing for Barca he shines (totally different compared to when he plays for Brazil) because he gets to do whatever he wants: lookaway-fake passes, flicks you name it. It's a blessing to watch him with a ball.

greatest thing is that he always carries this big smile, oftenly these star players become arrogant and forget to enjoy the game that made them famous to start with. not with Ronaldinho: you can see that he really loves football.

and oh, Ruud went to Real Madrid last week? good for him, hopefully he gets to play lots of matches. Sitting on the bench when his competitors are Raul, Ronaldinho and Robinho is no fun. and I think they have this italian striker (forgot his name) too.

yeah you're absolutely right....he played much better in this exhibition than he did for Brazil.

yeah he genuinely seemed like he was having fun! he seems to be as big a fan of the game as ever even after all these years.

so van niestelrooy went to Real....man, they always get these big name marqee players. dayem they just got Cannavaro too! wow, they really have no excuses for poor play...they are always loaded with talent.

should be interesting to see what happens.
