i also think the short hairstyle is better for his masculinity. the thing is that on one hand he has those gayish gestures and on the other there is the manly dominating feeling he gives - in spite of the fact that ohno is the leader, it is so often from what i've noticed that the rest of the group kind of looks up to jun, and so often it is him who speaks on behalf of the group.
and as for the rest of the group - well, sho doesn't look gayish, does he? he never did. but the rest of them............
wow you posted while i was writing my post, i'll check that fybabe
and i slept 3 hours so perhaps that would be sufficient, although knowing my body, i'll have my crisis at around 2-3 pm. but hey, tomorrow's saturday so i'll sleep late.
and i can talk to you girls too.

i've often wondered if jun was a bit gay too, for that matter the rest of Arashi as well... maybe not Aiba since he had a gf b4... don't want think about that...
ya... it's because of all their plucked eyebrows, make up and they spend much more time accessing the way they walk and choosing hair mousse than all our lives added up in a day...
i once got freaked out when i saw one of my ex bf with a full make up kit (foundation, powder etc...) in his bag. he was a model... but he's straight. i warned him not to powder his nose when i'm around
but it's their profession la.

u know what? same here. ever since i got into arashi, i've got horrible eyebags. what the hell... i never slept over 6hrs anymore... dunno why?
but somehow i'm even more energetic than before... does this mean i'm dying? :shamefulcry:
@fybabe - i read that korean drama thread of yours, couldn't agree with u more... one of the reasons i have not started watching korean dramas is that i can't stand the language... it grates in my ears... it's just me... anyway the story lines are all the same and i really hate tearjerker dramas in that sense...
thank god jdorama tearjearkers are not that long drawn out....
@kaja - if u like funny romantic dramas, i could recommend a few, let me go through my archives and see which ones to recommend, at the top of my head i could think of, Yamato Nandeshiko... that was pretty funny
fybabe you are really funny :) i read some of your anti - korean drama thread.
good thing about j dramas is that they are 10-11 episodes long.
and the way you described korean dramas made me think of what we think of argentina dramas - ever seen any? they usually have 200 episodes and the twists in the plot are soooo absolutely far from reality that it also becomes predictable after some time: the girl will turn out to be the guy's sister but than after some time they will find out that his mother had an affair with a guy who happened to be in mafia and that the girl's mother really adopted her and so on.... a couple of cancer/blindness/amnesia incidents will happen too

arwenna, i would relly appreciate it if you could. do you know where i could dl yamato nandeshiko - i checked on d-addicts and they haven't got it.

actually the hairstyle doesn't really make him more masculine or feminine, it's his gestures and mannerisms that add to the gayish picture...
sho used to do most of the talking but nowadays i find that the guys take turns to speak on behalf of the group...
of course sho have never look gayish... he exudes a very masculine manner.. i especially liked the way he seems pretty protective of nino too...

that's bcoz yamato nandeshiko was captured and seeded by jem ... u could most probably d/l it there if there r still seeds if not i'll seed them for u when u want it...
arwenna, tahnk you, i'll let you know on saturday after i cleaned up my disk :)
i just watched the parco cm - i saw it once during one of their programms and i thought jun looked gorgeous - but it was only their faces. gosh they all look so sexy in this cm............ :inlove: but jun does look the best. and i would vote for aiba as the 2nd. but as i said, they all look awesome.
fybabe, yes, i was thinking - if you happen to see jun, kidnap him (you'll convert him later) pack him into your suitcase (he would fit in, he's thin anyway) and bring him to us  what do you say?
haha!! poor jun!! everyone here thinks he's gay now!! lol... well i dont think he's gay... or looks gay... or acts gay... i think that he's just not completely masculin which i am completely ok with... and please dont think i'm gay...lol... i actually like it when jun wears nail polish, or when the guys wear make up (lipstick, etc.) this is probably also cuz i'm a huge gackt fan... but i think that make up can help make a person look prettier regardless of gender... well at least to a certain extent... i think jun and the others look better with long hair... it makes them much prettier... yea ok i admit i like pretty boys... :hehe: my point is that i dont think jun is gay or that he acts gay in any way... but i'm a pretty big yaoi fan so either way!! HAHA!! but i'd still prefer them all straight... gackt is a different story!! :nut: :naughty:
GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! no yaoi talk in any thread having to do with arashi!! i will find you and hurt you!!! no yaoi no yaoi no yaoi no yaoi!!!!
*sorry...i have seriously bad issues with yaoi (i.e. near death experience) and so i can't deal with it at all.....or kenshin.....*
i don't think any of the arashi guys are gay. i can only imagine how hard it must be to grow up in the environment that they did. always working, very little social time, most of the girls they have met are either in the business themselves or are screaming fangirls....some people take to it very easily and can live in it comfortably, but lots of people will retreat into themselves and be very solitary.
as for Jun's gestures and stuff...in japan they don't have the same kind of stereotypes as many other places do about whats "manly" and what isn't...heck, i've seen every single one of the arashi guys holding hands or sitting in each others laps and stuff....if that sort of thing means they are gay...then they must all be gay...

u had a near death experience cuz of yaoi!!! wow!! gomen!! i wont talk about it then... but i agree with u... the guys all hold hands and hug each other a lot but i think it's cute!!! i dont think that's gay... it just shows how good friends they are!! like when they were in new york and aiba and sho were doing the titanic thingy :hehe: that was soooo cute!! lol!!

its sad but petrifyingly true about the yaoi...
but yeah, i think its cute too...i've known brothers that would hold hands or treat each other the way the guys do...i think of it more like that than as it meaning they are gay. even before arashi was formed, the guys had been around each other (well, some of them, Ohno hung out with the older Johnny boys) so its really no surprise that they are close...its been 6 years now that they have been together as Arashi...every week they bust out a new d no arashi...so they see each other A LOT!! proximity either breeds closeness...or hate...and i think its more closeness in their case...
battlegirlai, do you feel a little bit frustrated because of lack of ohno thread?
you're right about whta's culturally acceptable/normal. actually when i was thinking that jun might be gay i saw the video from one of their concerts and sho&nino were holding hands and jun was stroking ohno's hair. than it ocurred to me that if that wasn't acceptable for japanese - i mean if such behaviour could make someone think they are gay, they wouldn't let themselves be seen in situations like that.
probably japanese society is more feminine... i even read an article (i studied linguistics) where a woman compared american/japanese society as representatives of masculine/femnine linguistic behaviour, i'd say probably sociolinguistic as well. of course that was far fetched but there is something about it, don't you think?
i would like to say that the song easy crazy break down is my new favourite, in my opinion it is almost as good as right back to you :)
i'm not really frustrated ^_^ i really don't think many people would have much of anything to add to it. it would probably just be me and dachoo (when she comes back) squealing about Ohno to each other ^_^
i would have loved to have read that article. i love reading that sort of stuff. its cool that you studied linguistics. i thought about studying that once....but i prefered history.
i agree with you tho that if their actions weren't acceptable for straight guys, they wouldn't do it. they wouldn't want to alienate any of their fans...and most female fans don't want their favorite idols to be gay ^_^

seconded. unless fans are gay too, but that would be kind of a wierd target audience
if you want to read the article, pm me your mailing address - i can send it to you. or you may want to try looking for it on the net: it's by Patricia J. Wetzel "Are 'powerless' communication strategies the Japanese norm?"

well, i think it would probably cost a lot to send something from Poland to the USA...so let me look for it on the net first and if i can't find it, i might bug you for a copy ^_^ thanks tho! i totally look forward to reading it!
battlegirlai, no it's not very expensive unless it weighs a ton :) and it is only a couple of pages, so it'd be no problem really.
i'm so into those new-old songs of arashi - they are so good!
